Is that why they think Presidential Candidates should have a plan for who is allowed to get a drivers license - which is a state issue now?

Yes, because these "conservatives" have perversely decided that the country is best served by an all powerful central government, with limited powers for individuals and the states.

If you really want a laugh, take a look at "conservative" fiscal policy over the last 10 years.

No. By definition, you are not a conservative if you are for any type of federal driver's license.

Simple answer: enforce current laws and ensure that illegal aliens get in back of the line behind those foreigners who are already waiting to get in. Finally, increase the number of Visas to meet the demand of U.S. citizenship and stop spending tons of money on translating government documents into 60 different languages (English only!).

I believe that the Bush administration will require that all U.S. citizens have a federal identification card starting in 2008. I don't think it will necessarily be a driver's license.

It is called the "Real ID" act and the last congress already passed it , it is basically a national ID that everyone will eventually have to have on them at all times. States will still issue them, but they will be part of a national database and standards.

Red states have already begun to convert all their drivers licenses to "Real ID" Documents. It is only a small part of the plan to destroy America by becoming a Fascist State
