You greet a normally quiet coworker and asked her how she was doing. She said, a very soft-spoken, "Good, how are you". You respond and then, trying to be friendly, say that it's been a while since you've both talked. In response, she gets a "deer in the headlights" look, kind of appears to be searching for what to say, then kind of shrugs innocently and doesn't say anything. What would you think of her?

I think she's very shy.

I would say shy too but it's also kind of "odd" because MOST normal people want to have a relationship (of sorts...you know what I mean) with co-workers. I've met most of my best friends ever AT my work so.....
You didn't say how old she is either - and maybe this is her first job?

That she is not worth talking to. Just say hi and bye and go on with your day.

she is shy or is going thru some personal issues at home. try to keep talking to her and let her know you are there if she needs to talk.
