I agree entirely! If I went to another country I wouldn't expect them to fit in with me and my beliefs.

Shock! Horror!
Close to 100% of people in the UK want one or more laws of the UK changed. Deport them all!
You should respect the laws and customs of the country you are in. However, if you do not agree with those laws or customs you should try to change them. That's how society works. If someone wants to change a law, and you agree with them, that is called reform. If someone wants to change a law, and you disagree with them, that's sedition - deport them.
Buy a dictionary, look up hypocrite.
Another clue - being born in the UK does not disbar you from being a Muslim. In fact religion and citizenship are not tied together. Some people born in the UK are Muslims, some are not, some are Christians, some are not, some want their religious beliefs enshrined in law, some do not, some want their cultural habits enshrined in law (Sunday opening anyone?), some do not.
Blame immigration. Which immigration? Was it the East Europeans; the Pakistanis; the West Indians; the Poles; the Jews; the Hugenots; the Dutch; the Normans; the Saxons; the Romans; the Celts - if only we could have stopped them all. The country should have been left to the hedgehogs. You are descended from immigrants; somewhere down the line, those immigrants changed the laws and culture of the place they had migrated to. That's why you are where you are now.
Live with it. Don't blame others for doing what you and your forebears do.

If this is the case then why is there a big out cry in this country about the teacher facing jail or lashes for insulting Islam in a Muslim country. It works both ways. If they should respect the laws of our country when they live here then UK nationals should respect the laws of their countries when they live there.
Where is your evidence that 40% of Muslims want to bring Sharia Law to the UK?

Respect. That's an interesting concept. What would you say to someone who asks "how to stretch". "What's the best martial art for me" "I am going to fight tomorrow, what do I do" "Who's gonna win...". One wonders who would answer a question that has not only been answered before, but been answered a few thousand times before. The asker of questions like that is disrespecting the time and bandwidth of every single person who reads Q&A here, because their repetitive questions get in the way. Imagine you are doing the right thing by doing research before asking a question. Suppose you don't know better, and you want to know what's the best martial art. So... you go searching for "best martial art". Whoa! As of 6:14pm 7/19/2011, that yields 6,854 questions. What do you expect the researcher to do: read through all 6,854 questions? There's no rational response to this, is there? Maybe, pick a few out at random and hope you get the correct answer? What would you say to someone who asks a leading question, like "why does taekwondo suck" or "Why is Aikido ineffective" When you ask a leading and aggressive question, you ought to expect an aggressive answer. So why would you be surprised when the community grands the asker's request? The asker got what s/he wanted. I see no problem! I even give trolls the benefit of my time occasionally. Sometimes, writing a well-thought-out answer helps me think about something - which means that trolls actually have a place, at least in my life. Sometimes, I might answer in the hopes that it might benefit someone else. So, yeah... if someone is disrespectful to the community, the community is not going to tolerate that, and will retailate against that - with a vengeance. In a way, it's a way of nature taking care of itself. When you see the disrespect, sometimes, you are seeing that in action. Because in reality, there could be 12,000 responses to "the best martial art". I think by and large, there is a good amount of respect - particularly with respectful and meaningful questions. EDIT: I too have learned to have patience and tolerance of others. But never have I learned, nor been taught, to apply unconditional tolerance.

This seems a little bit antagonistic.
You appear to blowing the statistics out of proportion and selecting a fact to fit your needs.
I'm pretty sure if you took a full poll Muslims in the UK, it'd be a damn sight less than 40% would say "Bring in Shari'a Law in full!".
That said, if they DO think that, it's probably more to do with the UK's aggressive foreign policy with regards to the Middle East and the Post 9/11 treatment of Arab/Muslim people.
If you took a poll of people coming from a BNP march and asked them whether they thought Muslims should be beaten half to death and set on fire, I'm pretty sure you'd see a similar statistic, which could read "40% of whites think Arabs should be slaughtered viciously."
So in answer to this inflammatory question, the reason is probably people who blow statistics out of proportion.

Oh this is a good one!
1) If 40% of Muslims want to bring this law into the country, then they're all terrorists (sarcasm, making a point).
2) Many Muslims escape their country because of such rules.
3) The fair few of them (maybe 1-10%) who honestly believe that our country is their country too and we should combine should rethink this statement when their own government is ruled by Muslim terror. They have been given a right to stay in this country, and they're escaping allsorts. They're just being silly and trying to convert all countries into Muslim beliefs. I have nothing against Muslims and religion / immigration personally, btw.
4) Have you ever heard a Muslim say that Western religions are a much better way of life? Very few of them (and the non-devout Muslims) will say this.
We need to really look at statistics and see how much of it is just made up as scare-tactics from parties that are anti-immigrant. Remember, a rasher of bacon will give you cancer, there's a super-horny, super skinny mouse that's been genetically bred that will attack a human for no reason, 80% of black people are muggers and OF COURSE all Muslims want to convert us infidels!
Was this the Daily Mail, Sun, or BNP newsletters? I'm really sick of hearing this stuff in the news. If you look at recent science reports and compare it to the media for a classic example of either dumbing stuff down or exaggerating it for the plebeian audience!

IMO - I dont think Islam and the West are compatible.
If Muslims settle in this country, they should abide with U.K. only.
Having said that, if Muslims became influential in Parliament and the voting Muslim population was a majority would the balance be altered so in many years time many laws would have been changed to accommodate this way of thinking?

the vast majority want the ability to use Sharia law for their communities only and not for the whole of the UK.
This is completely impractical however, and it will not work. It is quite obvious this 40% have no idea about the implications of such a charade.
