This is more a question for straight men. I am gay, work in a kitchen with a definite male atmosphere. Everyone but me is straight. They all know that I'm gay. I've had no problems as far as anyone being homophobic. They're all friendly and I have socialized with them away from work only somewhat. I have no intentions of making a move on any of them as I want them to be my friend as much as I would be theirs. But sometimes, when I am out drinking with one of them or maybe at their house, some moments just seem awkward. As I said, I have no sexual intent. I could really use some feedback from straight guys who have gay friends. Obviously where no sex is involoved. I just want to better understand. Thanks for your time.

Yes i would be friends and hang round with a guy that is gay ,As friends don't have to become lovers unless they want to.
I have worked and been to parties with straight and gay people and i have no problems .It is their choice and i respect their choice,And no i am not gay .

I think I know what you are talking about, because I feel this sometimes from my straight male friends, back in college mostly when we were all young and horny. Not to put too fine a point on it, but it sometimes seemed to me they thought maybe I would 'service' them for my own pleasure and they could have a release without the pain of chatting up a girl. I know this sounds cynical, but that was the vibe I would get and I am pretty good at knowing what others are thinking.

I think in this situation, if there is an issue it's not your fault, but it would be on their end.

Any guy who is comfortable with his sexuality wouldn't have a problem. I am openly gay and I have several straight guy friends. All of them are very supportive and they ask about my partner--they're comfortable enough with themselves.

Nearly all of our friends are straight men -- you just live and they live and you care about one another. The hobby we are in (RPGs/Sci Fi/Fantasy) is straight male dominated -- but I've never had a problem. I'm sorry that your experience is different.

Kind thoughts,

Nothing, do nothing, there isn't an issue... Or you could just say hey, "what's up with that time at the bar... you know that awkward moment?" talking can't hurt...

Good luck...
