I have never worked at McDonald's, but I did work at Chick-Fil-A one summer. It was fine for a summer job, but I would never do it again; but I would have to say that it falls under the descriptions "simple," "boring," and "mindless" much more so than "tiring" and "stressful." Things get a little stressful around meal times, but for the most part, it's pretty laid back.
I didn't do any stocking, but I'm a girl, so they may have had boys doing that--I can't remember.
If you can, try to work at Chick-Fil-A. I think the atmosphere is better there, and my bosses were really great.

I worked there for 3 years, and it was actually alot of fun. Not completely mindless as you want.... it takes alot of patience to work with other people and deal with all the impatient and RUDE people who come in. It's a great first job! I also know alot of people who worked for McDonald's since they were 15 and now work with McDonald's corporate. Some people I know now earn 6 figures and MORE. Try stocking at a grocery store or in a warehouse.

If you have a back problem you dont want to work at mcdonalds. Our boxes of fries and meat can weigh up to 50 pounds. And by the way, its not easy. You will be moving all the time and quickly. You are better off working at a grocery store.

i havent worked at mcdonalds before. but i do work at wendys.
our lunch hr is 1130am-2pm. so thats our lunch rush. some lunches are small. other days they are really big. and during that rush, it is stressful, but it passes the time by quickly. it is mindless, all u need to do it learn whatever station your doing. and after that rush, it is tiring. and fast food is pretty simple. but also really stressful at times from the customers. you have to really have patience. customers are getting really rediculous. and some want to argue with you.
story number one: this gurl wanted half and half frosty, i made a half and half frosty. we do not have a machine that does half and half. so you have to do vanilla first then chocolate (or vise versa). so i gave it to her. and she said that it wasnt half and half and it was all chocolate. i said its half and half. she stuck a straw in it, and pulled it back out, and she said this isnt half and half. i said ma'am, i made it myself, its half and half.
she was really really rude.
overall, i dont like the job mainly because of the customers. if there were no customers, the job would be great.

Fast food is fast paced; can your back handle that, plus standing up for long hours?
Never worked at Mickey D's, but I'd imagine it gets very busy.

It depends on your coworkers and shift manager. Mindless, yes definately, but with crappy company it will drag like hell.

it can get stressful when working with rude customers...so i suggest trying to stay on grill if possible...and it won't hurt your back at all. i worked there for three years when i was in highschool and i had alot of fun...but i'm assuming your alittle older and don't have alot to relate to the fifteen year olds that work there...so you might get kinda bored

McDonalds is soul-crushing. And greasy. And horribly mind numbing. But I suppose that's what you're looking for. And hey - at lunchtime changeover, you get free breakfast food. Happy trails!

It fits your description well. It is a great job for teens. A lot of harassment goes on there. But I have had worse and I have had better. Sounds like you would like it.
