Try clicking on that input field and then using the down cursor key. This should bring up a list of all the entries you have used in that field. Cursor through the entries and use the key to remove unwanted entries.

You can also check the "Saved Form and Search History" box in the options for clearing information.

In Firefox go to

Under deselect

Under select and you can choose what you don't want Firefox to remember.

If you you will remove all the options you have ticked.

You can also + to remove the remembered search string at the google search box one by one.

Good luck.

Here is how you do it without downloading any software but it takes a bit longer. When you start to type let the history box come up. Hover your mouse over it and hit the Delete key on your keyboard. It will delete the previous search.

Here is my top google clear search tip for you...click in to your google search...click the last search.....use the back arrow so the cursor is at the beginning of the word..then hold down the down arrow and at the same time press Del key till all history is gone.and will work this way in all searches
or you can hover your cursor on single letters once selected then delete.

the big boys (google & yahoo) are both doing this. It's not necessarily your previous searches, but "suggested searches" based on what you are typing.

in other words, if you want to type "james taylor" as you begin typing "J-a-m-e..." the search engine starts throwing out suggestions of similar searches that other people have typed in. it'll start with "james taylor", "james madison", james whoever". You then have the option to select from the suggested searches or continue typing.

Den is right in his answer. using firefox i typed in youtube and up came the suggestion youp**n.
On firefox click on tools and click on clear private data or ctrl shift delete.
Its not you its the browsers trying to be "helpful".
In fact i suspect they are trying to direct you to sponsored sites etc.
