Per studies and interpretations of scientists, bees are able to accurately describe the location, quality, and quantity of a food source to their hivemates through dances and sounds as their way of communication.
When near to a flower field, they use their olfactory and visual senses to pinpoint the location of the nectar.

When the bee returns to the hive, it vibrates its wings and dances in a certain pattern that tells the bees where the flowers are. The bee also brings back a sample for the other bees to taste.

I'm reading up on Evolution for University Study, and I just happen to have come across that example a couple of days ago. I agree it's quite fascinating. Very few animals think things through. Animals such as Bees are not capable of this kind of thought. They're simply acting instinctively. The instinct to do this is programmed into the Genome of Japanese Honey bees. European Bees, by comparison, don't have this instinct and anre alwats slaughtered by the Hornets. If the Bees had the ability to think this through, the Europeans would almost certainly do the same thing. This Behaviour didn't arise through one Bee thinking "Hmm, I wonder if we tried to cook the Hornet, that might work as a defence". Most probably, one colony just happened to instinctively mob the hornet at the right time, and probably cooked it by accident. Thus, the tendency to mob the hornet at the correct time would be passed on, and would spread throughout the population. And it would be refined by Natural Selection, with those hives most effective at Mobbing being the most likely to survive
