When one questions their existence and what is the real meaning of life and what is their eternal relationship with God, and what is real unending happiness. Then one comes off the animal level of Consciousness to the human level. (that is if they actually seek it out and then follow the Truth. Then one will understand that-
We are not this material body, IE; Race, color, nationality, Religion, mind, intellect, senses, job, etc. We are all eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. We never die, only this mortal body dies.
This material world is not our real home, it is called Maya (illusion) and is temporary and full of misery, only one fourth of the souls come here, and the rest are enjoying blissful eternal loving relationships with our Maker named above. That we fell here out of envying Gods position and He gave us free will and this is the place to try to be seperate from Him which is actually impossible. After many lifetimes we become frustrated and board here in illusion and we call out for what is real happiness and real peace. Those who are intelligent, take up the process of self realization (Bhakti Yoga) which gives one real peace, happiness and reality. Then at the end of life they can return to the eternal Kingdom where there is no more birth, death, old age, or disease and be eternally happy. I am so glad I came to these answers in life and now applying it.

HI Giggly,
I think there are many pivotal moments in life. Certainly that has been true in my life. I have felt the paradign shift significantly several times. There was a time, when I was 9 years old, that I learned from a school-yard friend to always keep my word. Another time, when I was in my 30s I felt the shift when I realized I was staying in a bad marriage because I thought I couldn't be alone; at the time, my husband was doing nothing (literally) to be a partner in our marriage. It was at that moment I discovered I was already alone, and doing all the work for two. I've had others, but I've made my point. What do you think? Do you think there will be just one pivotal moment for you?

When I realized I wasn't a kid anymore. Since I was a little kid I've had a security blanket and a stuffed animal that I always slept with. If I couldn't find Little Blankie or FiFi (yes, that is what I named them) I would not go to sleep. As I got older, I started to let go of them a little. I would sometimes kick them off the bed or squish them down to the end, but they were always there. This was until I was like, 15, which is sort of embarrasing. Anyway, my moment came while I was listening to music while trying to fall asleep and this Kimya Dawson song came on called "Fire". If you've never heard it, its a wonderful song. But the part that got me was the chorus which goes "Long as I'm burning/ I'll keep on yearning/ To save the world/ Not sure how but I'm learning". Something in my brain just clicked into place and all these gears that had been gathering dust started moving for the first time. I put Little Blankie and FiFi up ontop of my bookshelf along with the rest of my childhood stuffed animals and that was that.

There is never "a" pivotal moment. There are strings of moments and decisions - each with a set of consequences that in turn generate new decision points.

The moment you fall really in love for the first time. I am talking real love!! that loved one makes you do, say, live, think, love, probably hate, care and dream like nobody else would do again.

yes, the moment you discovered what real LOVE is is the defining moment in any body's life!.
