Would this be the same as "back in the day"? If so, I'd have to say back before my mom remarried and it was me and mom and my 2 sisters. We lived in a neighborhood with LOTS of kids. Nobody was an only child and I cannot even remember a family with less than 3 kids.
We played outside all the time and if there was a good show on tv, we all seemed to watch it and after it was over, we would come outside after and talk about it.
One time I remember that the Jackson 5 were suppose to be on The Ed Sullivan Show and we were all excited so we tried to find ways to occupy our time waiting for the show to begin. I remember us running around the block and then seeing what time it was. Our mothers called us in when it was on and we watched it and gathered outside after. We would sing and dance and pretend we were them. Oh to have those simple times back again....

I actually wasn't around during the 40s and 50s, but for some reason I am nostalgic for men wearing suits all day and women in nice pretty dresses.

When I was a kid. But I'm 49 too so......
We didn't have to worry about all the "bad people" picking up kids. We played outside from morning till night and had a great neighborhood with a lot of kids -- we got group games going all the time, woods we rode our bikes in......we didn't have computers.....
