Depends on what you consider a cheerleader and what team you are watching...I know there are several teams that have cheerleaders that run around the field and stadium...usually with the team's mascot in tow...although they aren't wearing the traditional skimpy outfit of a football cheerleader they are doing the same job of trying to pump up the crowd.

Edit: For the person who said there are no cheerleaders in hockey...the Hurricanes have cheerleaders...pom poms and all (at least they used to have pom poms)...and most other teams have "ice crews" which are girls who go out on the ice and scrape snow during tv breaks and throw out t-shirts during intermissions....technically the four major sports have cheerleaders...just not all cheerleaders have wear the traditional "cheerleader outfit."

The tradition of baseball there were no cheerleaders. You can cheer enough yourself from the stadium. You don't need cheerleaders there. Leave baseball the way it is and quit trying to change things.

1. Having cheerleaders is stupid.

2. Havin cheerleaders with line drive foul balls stuck in their eye sockets is messy.

3. MLB has done more than enough to distract fans from the thing they supposedly go to the ballpark for. THE GAME. If they have cheerleaders, they might as well shut it down.

The Reds have cheerleaders! They come out between innings with their pom-poms and shake their booties on the field or dugout roofs. When the team's out of town and the collegiate wooden bat team is in town, they will bring their "act" to the Steam games.

Because they would have to sit on the bench most of the game. Duh have you ever seen the scores in baseball? Not a lot to cheer about. I am a baseball fan, and believe me the runs are few and far between. The only place for a cheerleader would be 7th inning stretch. Plus cheerleaders cost the team money.

Because baseball doesn't need cheap gimmicks like other sports. Besides, plenty of hot women attend Yankees games.

There are no cheerleaders in baseball or hockey - Let us keep it that way!

As a former cheerleader I can attest to the fact that no one pays attention to them, except for their outfits (or lack thereof). Baseball does not need them.

The marlins used them either 2 or 3 years ago. Heres the main reason:The owners dont want 2 pay mor. They also think they mite b a distraction. There was a forum about this on comcast and many people said it would ruin the sport's tradition. I dont c y. I would lov cheerleaders!lol

Good question god know they should. If you had cheerleaders you would have some relief from the the boring *** game. Hopefully someone will start putting some cheerleaders on the field or in the stands. They probably can't be on the field but they damn sure could run around the stands. That would be wonderful.
