The NFL and the satellite companies are BLACKMAILING the fans. Plain and simple. If you give in and subscribe to satellite or pay for the NFL network, what next? Before you know it, ALL games will be pay per view. If you don't believe me, just look at what happened to boxing. We are already on that road with satellite radio, where most popular shows are no longer on public airwaves. There is no reason, other than greed, that all games cannot be shown on national TV as they always have been.

I think they are both in the wrong. Directv has paid the NFL a huge amount of money to have exclusive rights to sunday ticket. The cable companies didn't want to spend the money to carry it. With the NFL Network The NFL wants the cable companies to carry the channel on a basic tier package which cable doesn't want to do. It all boils down to the almighty dollar. Does the NFL think that just because they broadcast five game a year on the NFL network that everyone is going to run out and subscribe to directv. The same thing almost happened with MLB. They were trying to whore themselves out to Directv for 700 million dollars and give them rights top the extra innings package. The NFL is trying to expand its horizons to other countries all the while restricting millions of people in this country from watching games in their homes. What happens if the billionaire owners decide to broadcast playoff games only on the NFL Network?

Comca$t seems to be fighting the NFL harder than any other. Since I hate Comca$t with all my guts, I have a hard time being impartial in this case. But it is probably not fair for the NFL to try to tell the cable companies how they should do business. Problem is, cable companies tend to ignore their customers' wishes anyway, so noone else really has a say in this matter.
I am a Dish Network customer myself. They have the NFL Network on channel 154.

The NFL are scum. Do we really need to pay higher cable rates for a network that is going to show a few games a year for a 20 week stretch. These channels are getting out of hand. And by the way don't tell me you don't end up paying for it in the end.

The Cable company has to pay the NFL network to carry it ... Who do you think is really going to pay for it in the end !~

Edit - I already pay for the NFL Sunday ticket... now the NFL wants more from me ...CMON !

I side with the NFL on this one. Cable companies want to hike up rates for the network but the NFL wants it in their basic coverage. I say to switch to satellite and screw the cable companies!

Nether really but if I had to pick one I would side with NFL. The sattelite companies have figured out a way to get their customers this channel without charging them extra, not sure why the cable companies can't do the same.

good lord i cant believe im saying this but i actually agree with foggy, i dont support either of them the nfl is greedy they raise ticket, parking and food prices not to mention the prices for jerseys and hats and the likes, to me thats taking a dump on the fans, and dont get me started on how greedy the cable companies are im paying 15 bucks for a cable box every month that ive had for 8 years and the bad part is its the same box i was paying 7.50 for when i signed up with time warner they are both screwing the customers and taking advantage of the fans the ones who pay the freaking bills, they are both greedy

I side with the NFL. I feel all games should be shown on TV. It only helps the owners, because the public gets to know the team and players, and maybe they will even go to a few games.

I'll have to say they both suck. One of the top 3 games of the season and I can't watch it from my couch. I'd be better off paying a little extra for the channel on my cable network than what its gonna cost me at a restraunt/bar to watch the game.

Its all about the dough. I have buddies that won't be able to watch the game because they have cable. A few of them may come over and watch it here because I have Directv. Cable doesn't even offer the Sunday ticket, why I don't know.
