Do you think race (ie prejudice) has anything to do with the fact that two black women, both exceptional dancers, made it to the finale, but didn't win. Both Laila Ali and Melanie Brown should have won, but didn't. Do you think that race had anything to do with the viewers votes??

I wasn't trying to start anything, I just wondered. It was strange to me that both of them had higher scores from the judges, but the viewers voted for dancers who weren't as good. Just my opinion, but Helio--ugh! Mel and Maks should have won, just as Laila Ali should have won last season.

Why does it always hafta be a race issue? Nope, I don't think race had anything to do with it. Did you forget that EMMITT SMITH won just last year? Last time I checked, he was black.
I think Helio won because he has an infectious personality and he has improved the MOST since the beginning. I love Mel B and thought she danced well but look at her background -- she already knew how to dance to begin with!
DWTS is about turning "celebrities" into dancers, not decent dancers into amazing dancers. Mel B knew already knew how to dance, she just got better over the show. Helio had *never* danced before and ended up dancing amazing! He learned the most, he showed the most growth, he deserves the trophy :)

I am a black woman and no I don't that race had anything to do with it. I think that the show was based on making dancers out of celebrities who normally didn't dance and Helio improved as a dancer and won.

It's too difficult to make that kind of call when this show is watched by millions. Also, Emmitt Smith won in Season 3 so I don't think its a race thing. Although there is a case for the viewers being sexist. I think Mel & Maks were robbed!

No, I don't think it has anything to do with race. Helio is Brazilian, so both finalists this yr were unique!
I thought both were great dancers....I voted for Helio. I liked his charisma....plus he had absolutely no dance or perfoming background....so I felt like he had progressed more than Mel B.

No....America's votes count as 50% and I voted for my favorite every time under every phone number and email address that I could. I am glad that Helio won but after seeing Mel B. this morning on Good Morning America, I was even happier for him cause...well, let's just say...it was not flattering...her attitude and appeared to be a bad loser...not very gracious at all...even though, she tried to do it with laughter...she got her message across...joking about wanting a recount. I have read several message boards and I am not the only one that thought that.

i think of Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) could be a competent option to represent like Jayne Semour and Marie Osmond. possibly for the adult males Joshua Morrow (Nick) or Kristoff St. John (Neil). as long as this is not the aggravating characters that the widespread public does no longer root for at the same time with Chole, Amber, or Jenna.

Absolutely not. Race didn't enter into it. Don't try to start something. Laila and Melanie didn't have enough votes and Apollo and Helio were better than them. Period.
I can't believe you even posted this question!

I think men win because it is a show that women watch and vote for and women like to see those gorgeous men dance and show off their bodies. Race has nothing to do with it.

No, I don't think it has anything to do w/ race. I think that it is souly based on popularity by the fans anyway. The judges do a great job of scoring the dancers i think! Nah...i don't think it has anything to do w/ a racial influence.

No way, the judges, first of all, couldn't be rascist or they would have been fired. Secondly, the viewers just won't watch and vote out of hate. It's just wrong!
