I just read this on the local Minneapolis newspaper website, startribune.com, "Twins close to landing Delmon Young
Wednesday, November 28th, 2007. The Twins and Tampa Bay Rays are close to finalizing a multi-player deal, according to several sources with knowledge of the discussions. The deal could be announced as soon as today. The main pieces changning teams would be outfielder Delmon Young and righthander Matt Garza. But indications were strong on Wednesday that as many as six players could be involved.
In addition to Garza, the Twins would send Tampa Bay shortstop Jason Bartlett and reliever Juan Rincon for Young, shortstop Brendan Harris and outfielder Jason Pridie. Pridie was with the Twins during spring training of 2006 as a Rule 5 pick. Young, 22, hit .288 last season with 13 homers and 93 RBI and is considered one of the better young hitters in the game. Harris, 27, hit .286 with 12 homers and 59 RBI."

As a Twin fan I'm glad to see Young coming over, we need his bat!

With Liriano coming back, Scott Baker, Kevin Slowey, and Boof Bonser ready, and also Glenn Perkins coming back healthy I don't think this is hurting their rotation as much as others think.

That is the rumor right now; although ESPN is now saying that the others may not be thrown in, it could be a one for one deal. Delmon has rubbed too many people wrong in Tampa so they are looking for a good pitcher to replcae him and Garza fits the bill, they are both potential guys, they have a lot fo upside and I agree with you that their pitching staff will be fine without Garza but Young would be a great fit for them in the Outfield.

I even have youthful on my fantasy group and actually beloved him in spite of the reality that he grow to be suggested to have not lived as much as the precise billing given to him. each and all of the hitting in the international can't get the activity executed on the tip of the season in case you haven't any longer any pitching. on an identical time as i like Delmon youthful and could have beloved to work out him in the Indians outfield, my wager is a GM like Mark Shapiro is unwilling to section together with his youthful pitchers. My understand-how is that youthful grow to be additionally no longer happy to no longer be in his popular place final season whilst injuries struck in Tampa. he won't be enjoying proper in Minnesota, his fielding isn't professional and the enjoying floor in Minnesota can take some powerful unusual hops. unsure why the Twins enable bypass of a youthful pitcher whilst Santana and Silva ought to the two be lengthy previous and pitching is a precise top rate these days. Like I suggested, regardless of his draw back, i could have enjoyed to have examine Cleveland have been given Delmon youthful yet I even have resigned myself to the reality that Cleveland can't handle their want in LF by way of procuring and promoting their pitching possibilities.

I read that in the Star Tribune too. Let's just say it's the rumor that WON'T die. If the Twins do get Delmon Young. I'm for sure going to wear a batting helmet to the games. I don't want any bats flying at my head!

the Devil, excuse me Rays, need to move Delmon Young or Elijah Dukes. Both are head cases. They need to get pitching, so Garza makes sense for them, but not for the Twins.Sorry to disappoint!!

This is one trade rumor that won't die.

I've been reading about Garza for Young for quite a while now and it won't go away. If you ask me the Twins would be ill-advised to move Garza with Silva on the way out and Santana very likely to be moved.

The Twins should wait and see what type of return they can get on Santana before they start moving a bunch of young pitchers to add young, relatively unproven bats.

I agree with TKatt about their staff. Also, the Rays know that Delmon has a lot of talent, but they are not enamored with his attitude. It is a good trade for devil rays because they need pitching bad and have a glut in the OF.
