i had my 20 week scan the other day and they asked if i wanted to find out the sex of my baby, my partner didnt want to find out but i did. anyway he said he wanted it to be a surprise for both of us so i told the ultrasound guy that i didnt want to find out. So on our way home from the ultrasound my partner said we should have found out. I could have killed him. So i rang the ultrasound place and they said if i wanted to find out the sex i would have to pay for another ultrasound but i wouldnt be able to get in for another 4-6 weeks cause they are fully booked and with christmas closure and all. Just wondering and anyone can tell by these ultrasound pictures what sex my baby is?.

OK Guys don't take any notice of the first picture with the legs straight because that is actually the bottom we can all see.

From the looks of the second picture, I'd say boy. I had a boy, and the ultrasound looked like that. A girl's genitalia would look like three dark lines, and that one looks like my son's ultrasound. You could be sneaky and just ask the doctor, you know.

Good luck!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess it's a boy.

I read somewhere that they will only offer to tell you the sex of the child that early in the pregnancy if they have seen the penis and therefore know it to be a boy. If they don't spot it then it could be because the penis hasn't formed yet, or they simply didn't spot it, so they won't offer as they still don't know for sure.

The only time I have put this to use was with a co-worker who was in a similar situation six months ago. Sure enough, they had a boy.

Old WIVES tales. And yes. I know of one that a ton of people have done and it has actually be very accurate. The one I did (which im still waiting to find out if it worked ) is the pencil test. Thread a needle. Stick the needle into the eraser of a pencil. (vertical). then hold the thread and dangle it over your wrist. It will start to spin in a circle, and then i will either sway vertical(from elbow to wrist) or horizontal-side to side. If it is vertical means its a boy, horizontal means its a girl. Now, if you have had any kids, miscarriages, or abortions. It is meant to count these first. After the pencil goes either way, it will start to circle again, which is meaning it is switching to the next kid. And it will do it again, and circle. The longer it circles means the longer between kids. If it just keeps circling than thats all! ...Now like i said, i know people who have done this after having kids and it has told them all the right answers!, so you can test it on someone you know. I did it just for fun! and i am waiting to find out the gender still!. You can also google the pencil test to see if there are any other explanations of it.

Hey I'm an ultrasound tech. Both of those pics show the legs but the shot is not good enough to tell what is between the legs. Sorry.

Hello! I would definately say a girl!!! In the 1st picture, it's hard to tell...but the 2nd...I don't see a "hotdog"....lol. That is what my ultrasound tech call's it for a boy! For a girl...she calls it a "taco" or a "hamburger". Because of the labia on a little girl is split down the middle. To me, it looks more like that. I'm having a girl 100% and this is what my ultrasound's look like! Good luck!

I believe it's a girl if you look at the second picture you can see three lines. Those are signs of a girl. By the way you can go in for a 4d or a 3d or a 2d ultrasound at http://www.4d-ultrasounds.com/ultrasound.htm. You can get an earlier appointment and then find out for yourself AND YOU GET AWESOME PICTURES TO HELP BOND. Insurance does not cover it but the prices seem reasonable.

Sorry, I can't tell. I wanted to know as soon as possible but the umbilical cord was between the legs when they scanned the genital area which can make it appear to be a boy. After a scoop of ice cream HIS "mushroom" was very visible so I would guess you are having a girl.

from the pics, it's hard to tell. but what i would say is to concentrate on having a healthy baby. so often we get caught up in the "sex" of the baby, and not realize all that could go wrong.

i also wouldn't pay for another ultrasound, just to determine the sex. besides, it'll be a great surprise.

be well and congrats on a healthy pregnancy.

A girl, maybe? S/he wasn't really in a position where you could see the right area to determine........ Congratz, btw.

However, I did want to warn you about posting those for everyone to see..... It tells your full name, dob, date of your scan, and your doctors name. Also the name and serial number of the scanner can link it to a specific hospital...... I would black out all this info before posting... Becareful, hun! There are a lot of bad people in cyber space!

They should give you a copy of the full ultrasound video, not just a couple of photos. It's your medical record and you're entitled to a copy of it, though there might be a small fee for the video. If your partner changes his mind that often, it's his problem, don't make it yours. He's trying to blame you for his indecision.
