That's odd. I thought she was a black woman who came from meager beginnings and achieved her dreams. She gives millions of dollars to good causes and encourages people to read. Her magazine has a positive message for women (versus other shallow, superficial women's magazines). I do not know her personally, but I think that she does a lot of good in the world. She could just be rich and selfish, but she isn't. On her show, she tries to get people to empower themselves. How do you know that she's only pretending to care about people? Whatever, you're entitled to your opinion.

The show does exactly what the show has to be doing to be where it is and with the kind of listeners they have. It has nothing to do with how she is in real life. If the show would gain x amount of listeners and that will increase the income in x amount of dollars but that will take an investment in charity of x-y dollars, then go ahead it's a deal, that's the way it works. Give 1 million in books (if they do that), gains the preference of many people, who will increase, more viewers, the more the sponsors have to pay and the better sponsors will get, the more money, is very similar to those organizations that donate money to feed the children, the one that get less money is the children, most of that is to keep the organization running.

Personally I don't care for Oprah, and some of her views.
She had a guest on her show a while back that was talking about marriages and talking about marriage using a term called starter marriages, meaning that people who are married and then divorced because they didn't get what they wanted out of their first marriage can get it in their next one.
Personally thinking like that I strongly disagree.

So are many other celebrities. Hopefully her generosity towards people that are less fortunate and under valued will redeem her some. I agree with your sentiments, but give the devil her dues.
