The "evidence" which was hearsay...that Bush quoted during his address to congress, was based on a letter from an Iraqi exiled scientist who was seeking asylum in more than one country.

Meanwhile every other contradicting report put on Bush's desk from our own intelligence agencies were put on iggy !...this is where Bush is accused of "cherrypicking" intel for his agenda.

Then, to betray his country even further, Bush orders the leak of classified information.... he outs a CIA agent whose husband Joe Wilson contradicted Bush's statement that Saddam had sought Uranium from Africa.

why are these dots so hard for Americans to connect ????

Answerer...

you make a good point... for hundreds of years it has been congresses responsibility... And it seems nobody finds it significant that the president alone now has the power to wage war on any country he sees fit. All he has to do is use the word "terror"....and he's got millions of soldiers and trillions of dollars in military equipment at his disposal.

Are you serious ? - if you're going to lie, you should at least provide a link to a website that will back up your lies...

Because dumbass congressmen (Republican AND Democrat) voted him the power to do it. I never have understood that - you don't vote away power. The constitution says that congress will levy war for a reason - so the motive behind the actual war can be discussed and voted on. Its like they said, "here you go handle it Mr. President". I guess they had better things to do than decide whether or not the country goes to war.

Because of Peak Oil. Read The Last Oil Shock by David Strahan for more info on this. The Project For The New American Century had invasion as plan long before 9-11. This is a fact, not conspiracy. It has nothing to do with weapons or terrorists and everything to do with energy security. Cheap oil is fast running out as demand is set to outstrip supply by 2020 at the latest. This means nothing short of a total economic meltdown in store for us within the next two decades. Again FACT not conspiracy.

So, your question is off track. The invasion was planned to respond to a real threat, not from Saddam, but from our own energy gluttony.

You are misunderstanding the true reason we invaded/occupied Iraq. It is geographically strategic. Good place to locate our military to protect the U.S. interests there. Anything else was to get everyone behind it. And for many it worked. For the rest we recognized the BS. Keep watching. McDonald's and Wal-Mart should show up there any day.
