what different bands should i listen to??

Question

i listen to bands like fall out boy, the beatles, the killers,paramore, and the arctic monkeys. so does anyone know any other band that i would like??? i hate heavy metal, rap, country, and im not a huge fan on hip hop. can someone help????

Well, you've got a few different directions to go in. With you liking the Killers and Arctic Monkeys I would recommend Interpol, the Cure, the Smiths, Bloc Party

For the Beatles, you may like Simon and Garfunkle, maybe some of the Beatles solo efforts, maybe the Rolling Stones.

in combination of the Killers type stuff and the Beatles-y stuff you might like Blur. 13 and the self titled records are really great. The Pixies (probably starting with Doolittle or Trompe Le Monde) may also be something you might like.

You also may like Belle and Sebastian and the Decemberists.

Hopefully some of that may appeal to you.

the person below who said the Shins is right. The Shins are fantastic. Based on the stuff you listed I would start with the record Chutes Too Narrow (their second one). All of their records are great though.

The Beatles are good, as of other oldies/classic-70's rock; The Doors, Eagles, Rolling Stones, Styx, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, & Van Halen, then there's more mellow stuff like Ronnie Milsap & Niel Diamond (1 heavy metal band that everyone should like is Ozzy,) not all heavy metal is "heavy", listen to "So Tired"-Ozzy, "Home Sweet Home" Motley Crue, -I could go on...-anyways ya I agree on "rap"-I hate it myself, some country I like-mostly the older stuff. but just listen to the radio & find a favorite station-good luck.

heres what id usually do when trying to find new bands.

go to www.last.fm

The first thing you will want to do is type in a band you love in the box that shows up. Click the option in that box that says play.

On the next screen that pops up, youll see something like "If you like [band name], you might also like". RIght under that, click "see more".

Youll get a huge list of similiar artists. Youll get a percentage of how much an artist is similiar to another. If you click on the artists on the similiar page, you can even sample songs.

Practice this with lots of artists you like. It may take sometime but youll find some. I always have.
