I have always been concerned about the bigger picture, and seek out those who stand by moral ideals and are in effect the best candidates available. My endorsement is for Mitt Romney, a moral man who best represents the conservative ideals I espouse. Why can't some of you see that bigger picture and unite behind him on this? I understand the liberals if they don't care for Romney, but to be divisive amongst conservatives like this because of the erroneous notion that the LDS are not Christian is damaging to the overall cause of defending God's place in this country. Pat Robertson, as right as it gets, endorses Giuliani, who is the most left of the GOP candidates, all because he fears that having a 'Mormon' president further legitimizes the faith. How sad a methodology in selecting a candidate.

That is definitely very well said. I have to agree with you on all points. It is one of the largest problems that Mormon politicians have been facing for as long as can be. People have many misconceptions about the Mormon faith, and one of them is that we worship Joseph Smith, and not Jesus Christ and so they think we are not Christian. THIS IS NOT TRUE! We believe that the head of our church is Jesus Christ, and that he founded our church THROUGH Joseph Smith. Thus we ARE Christians. Besides, anyone who votes because of religion doesn't deserve to vote.

Vote for Values, NOT religion!

I am a Christian, and it wouldn't bother me a bit to vote for a Mormon. I, like many Christians, would also vote for those who I feel would be the best leader of our country. I don't know why others don't do the same.

However, you need to realize that Christians cannot accept those of the LDS faith to be Christian also. We are saying that you do NOT have the same Christian beliefs that we do, and therefore, you are not Christian. Mormons are no more Christian than I am Mormon. I realize that you believe in a person named Jesus Christ, however, this person is not the Jesus Christ that Christians believe in. To say otherwise would indicate that you do not have even a basic understanding of Christianity. The problem is in the definitions of God, Salvation, etc. I understand Mormonism. I have lived in Southern Idaho all of my life. I went to Mutual and a variety of LDS-Church sponsored events. The latter-day saints are good people - with false doctrine that does not lead them to Christ, but away from Him. Christians
cannot consider Mormonism to be Christian because it isn't. And personally, I don't understand why LDS people would want to be considered Christian at all. Aren't you claiming to be a part of the one true church that was restored? Why would you want to take the name of something that Joseph Smith considered so wrong that he had to 'restore' it?

However, back to the question - I don't think a candidates religion should be the key factor in deciding who to vote for. The other thing, too, is that I wouldn't consider the majority of popular "Christian" preachers to be following Christ, either.

I agree with you - it is a sad methodology in selecting a candidate.

While I understand and completely agree that Romney shouldn't be ostracized for his Mormon faith, I also totally disagree with you on him being a "moral man".

Mitt's religion aside, he is totally FAKE which is the ONLY reason I wouldn't not vote for him. Not only is he a flipflopper just as his father was back when he ran for President, but he flipflops on IMPORTANT moral issues. Perhaps one of the most important moral issue .. abortion. Romney has supported abortion all along and then recently before the Ame's straw poll said he was Pro-life - I didn't buy that for one minute! But at the same time I can see where maybe he had a change of heart, but I couldn't even give him the benefit of the doubt because I found out after he claimed he was pro-life that he actually has a $50 co pay for abortion included in his healthcare plan proposal. Now, if I'm not mistaken, that would not only be a pro-choice proposal but also it would make abortion that much cheaper.

Simply put : Romney can't be trusted. It has NOTHING to do with his religion, and EVERYTHING to do with his lack or morals, inconsistency, and how phony he is.

In the beginning I liked Romney. Then I did my research and found out he was just another polished man in a suit.

Want to vote for a consistent man WITH morals? Vote Ron Paul.

I couldn't care less about Romney's religion, or anybody else's. I'm supporting Rudy, but Mitt would be my second choice.

And it's funny, because the voters kept Marie Osmond alive on Dancing With the Stars, right up to the finals. They don't seem to mind that she's a Mormon. Why would it matter about Romney? He's not going to make anybody convert, you know!

Vote for Rudy!

Mormon prejudice is just as ignorant and as stupid as racism. If people disagree with his policies, that's one thing, but If they just don't like him because of his religion they're bigots.

I am one of those Christian right people. I may indeed end up giving my vote to Romney in the end. I am still narrowing the field.

So far candidates out of my consideration are:
McCain
Huckabee
Rudy

Candidates still in consideration:
Ron Paul, Tancredo, Duncan Hunter, and Mitt Romney.

I agree...well said. There is so much Mormon "bashing" that has come out this year. I don't see any other religion being bashed... what is up with that?

How can one really say that LDS people don't believe in Christ. Look into it...
