17 hours, only stopping for gas, everything else taken care of at the same time - to take my daughter to a doctor in my parents home town because we were living as far north as you can get and still find a town in alberta - next stop the NWT and the doctor "was away". Took her to where my parents lived so my son and I would have a place to stay, she was in the hosptial for almost a week. That was NOT a fun trip, I was worried sick the whole way, the kids were 4 and 5 at the time - it was winter, really bad roads all the way. The last stretch was the Rogers Pass - you have heard me mention it before. For years it has been the bane of my existence. Now my parents are dead I will never travel it again in the winter.

Used to drive from Washington DC to Key West without stopping...19-23 hours depending upon traffic...did this about 5 times a year...And of course, once in Key WEst, I had to drive the other way also...never stopped except for gas, coffee, hamburgers, and pee! I was 30 years younger, today, 14-18 hours behind a wheel is it for me! Phil

I just remembered the longest drive ever! It was when I
was pregnant with our first child, and we drove from Phoenix
to Portland, in one day and part of the night, with stops along
the way. We were young then, and had the stamina I guess.I
remembered we stopped at Palm Springs, Cal. to take a
look at the inside of the famous, Raquet Club on the way.
So that is the furthest we've ever travelled without spending
the night and driving straight through.
So that was one long trip for sure.

Los Angeles to Boston in 56 hours (took a couple of short naps in the car along the way). By the end, I had to have the windows open (it was February), singing loud to the radio, and occasionally slapping myself to stay awake. When I arrived, I couldn't walk in a straight line without stumbling. Despite not having a Boston street map, I managed to find my way right to my destination in the most confusing (to navigate) city in the US...a feat that I couldn't manage again for several months.
I swore that I'd never again do anything that stupid, but I later drove from Gadsden, AL to Los Angeles in 36 hours. But seriously...don't drive like that. Being that tired makes you stupid and unresponsive. You're as good as drunk. At least do it with someone else so that one can sleep while the other drives.

I drove from So. Caroling to San Diego CA in three days by my self, only stopping for gas and eat, and to sleep two nights, and, one in Jackson MS in my car, and one night in a Holiday Inn because of sand storm somewhere west of Texas, and arrived in San Diego, CA early evening the third day. Drove about 14 hours a day. That was the longest trip I ever did. I was 18 yrs. old
I truly thought that when I was going through a very flat desert like area in so. west I saw like maybe 5 1950's Chevy's stuck in sand with the front of cars standing up toward sky all in a row in pale colors....Never knew if it was a mirage or real!?!?
Anybody seen that?? and if so where was it??

I am not sure what "one fell swoop" means, but I drove from Clovis, CA to Las Vegas, NV with two potty breaks. That's 400 miles and about six hours of driving. I'd need 8 potty breaks and lunch and maybe dinner if I did that now.

From Baltimore to Boston and back. I had sense enough to avoid NY and took the route through Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut. It took over 20 hours. That may not sound like much, but it snowed, and that slowed us down. Also, from Baltimore to northern Wisconsin and back. Coming back, going through Chicago was a nightmare. Took us almost two days driving just to get back. Snowed then, too. Had our dog with us that trip. He barked at all the big trucks. That drove us nuts. We arrived home exhausted.

From Jacksonville, Fl to Wabasha, MN & Nelson WI which are side by side along the Mississippi river. It took 22 hours going and 24 coming back. I got us lost around Chicago which was out of our way.
We were going to my daughters wedding. Traveling with a 12 yr. old, a 20 yr. old and a 4 yr old plus hubby and me. We had a conversion van and a tv so the kids had it made. Can't say as much for me. I was crippled by the time we arrived but I wouldn't trade going for anything in the world.

When I was little, mom and dad used to bonzi from California to Michigan in 4 days. They made the back seat into a bed for me to play and sleep in. They drove day and night. We spent a week with bad-grandma, then drove day and night for another four days to get home. Daddy always took trips like that. Mom brought an ice chest and made sandwiches in the car. Our only stops were for gas and the potty-stops.

I also drove from border of Mexico back to middle of Minnesota. Long long drive. My red cadillac coupe deville and a 12 foot trailer behind. 9 miles to the gallon so lots of stops for fuel.
