can anyone suggest a book i can give to lift the spirits of an adult female friend who's stepfather is not going to live through the holiday season? thanks

"I Had Brain Surgery, What's Your Excuse?" by Suzy Becker.

"Tuesdays with Morrie" is a sentimental, but uplifting tale about a man who sits with his terminally ill former mentor. It's a nice story because it reminds people of the things they wished they had said while the person was alive.

"Life with Pi" by Yann Martel is a magical reading experience that, as one character says, "will make you believe in God."

And, although she's an adult, I also love the James J. Crist "What to do" books for kids.
