I don't see any info anywhere about Kiva.org that says you get interest back. Does that mean you just help people out by lending them money and getting the same amount back?

That is my understanding of Kiva.org. It is a charitable organization for those that believe in the power of free markets and entreprenuership. You lend funds, and if the borrower doesn't deflaut you only get the principle back.

Your funds you lend accrue no interest.
