Why do some of the simplest things need the most words to explain them? I really want to know. :) What do you think?

Sorry, I just saw a question on Y!A that was soooooooo long and at the end the asker stated "It's that simple!"

Words are poor substitutes for non concrete ideas & concepts. Something very simple to conceptualize concepts may be extremely difficult to put into words, especially since words tend to paint a single POV. If you look at a painting, no matter how simple, then tried to give someone a description of what you saw you could speak forever & still not convey the essence of the painting. It is the same when someone tries to pass on an idea or concept. They just keep talking till you have the Ah-Ha moment yourself.

Ahhhhhhh !!!

YOU ASKED A WHY question!!!!!

Because sometimes if not often the simple are most important

Simple things form complex things and thus it follows that if you balls up the simple thing the whole stack of cards comes down!

Simple things also tend to be little things and therefore hard too see, e.g. if I say the word 'car' you have already seen many of these, therefore one word will do to put the image in your mind.
But if I say the word 'electron' or even the word 'quark'......

Can I leave the rest to you.

The simplest things are harder to explain because most of them are taken for granted and when we come to need to explain them, we are lost for words on how to, and therefore draw up longer complicated answers.

Cause "simple" is subjective, ie personal to you, and to make it simple for anyone else that hasn't had our experiences, we have to provide loads of background info. Of course, some people just can't write well... ;-)
