Alright- with LeBron improvong every year, and playing the way he is... it's scary to think he hasn't even peaked!
Do you think he has a chance to surpass MJ as the greatest basketball player of all time?

Josh - how'd you get 12 games out of LeBron's career? I guess the previous seasons meant nothing to you?

MJ was the greatest ever, no contest. However, LeBron could get there. Although it's no easy task he's on his way.

I found it interesting that you said improving every year considering the year he is having thus far statistically. I think all of the shine and luster from his first years are going to start to fade and we will see just how good he will be long term. There may be a crown on his head but until there is a ring on his finger he still has a long way to go until he is reigning in any kind of dynasty that the Bulls were and the Spurs are. As far as his chance to surpass MJ, everyone has a chance but Duncan is the only individual player to do anything similar to MJ in the post Kobe/Shaq era.

MJ was consistently great. Year after year he shot the lights out statistically. He rarely had a bad game and never had a bad season. Also, MJ won basketball games, playoff games, and championships year in and year out. Maybe Lebron will do all of this but the bar has been set almost impossibly high.

I think LeBron is a phenomenal player, but he'll never be as good as Jordan was. Jordan made others better. He made Pippen and Horace Grant into the great players they became. Plus, Jordan was a great defender. LeBron's defensive skills are average, at best. LeBron is a scorer, whereas Jordan had an overall game. Also, Jordan could will his team to a victory. I haven't seen that from LeBron yet.

It's entirely possible, but I don't think Lebron's game is really like Jordan's. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Lebron is more of a Scottie Pippen like player than Jordan. While their stats are the same and their play is phenomenal, the style of play is slightly different. I think the biggest thing with Lebron is that he needs to focus, his defense still isn't great, and it's spotty, if he can become a two-way player, he'll be one of the best if not the best player.

A lot of players had the chance, but getting to the level jordan was is almost impossible. Nowadays there's so many great athletes in the game, that not 1 man can take over night in and night out. I mean your talking about a guy that averaged 30 points a game throughout his career including those wiz days, while shooting 50% from the field, and he's a sg!

nah it wont happen cuz he can't carry a team you said mj at lj's age wasn't in the playoff games in mj's rookie year he played better than most of the pro's i'm sorry i like the guy an everything but untill he learns that his team sucks and understands that if he doesn't win games that they will be lost then he will never surpass jordan differents between jordan and james is jordan made his team play at his level but lebron is trying to play at his teams level which is very low every body goes on a run once in a while lets see if he can keep it up and win games what does it matter if you score over 30 point and your team still loses

quit it. don't compare bronbron or anyone else to michael. for one, if the hand checking rule that we have today was enforce during MJ's time, his point average would be 38-40 points a night.
"... players today want to live out their entire career the way michael jordan played the few remaining ticks of the shot clock. and that, to me, is what is wrong with the NBA today."

no. lebron will never be like mike. just like Dr. J, Magic Johnson, Larry Brid and so on there will never be another mike or any of the aforementioned players. lebron will make a name on his own and young players coming into the league in ten or so years will hear "he reminds me of a young lebron james" .... so its not bad that he'll never be better than mike. he'll be his own unique player. also L.J. doesn't play defense, anyone who really knows basketball knows that. mike did it all. so again, no. he'll never be better than MJ.
