I would have to agree with you...although I wasn't even born until later that year so I didn't see it live...most memorable for baseball (for me at least) would have to be in 2004 when the Sox finally won the World Series.

Even through you didn't say that it didn't have to be baseball related, and you could have post it in the board for sports. But i have to agree with you, even through I wasn't alive when the actual game happened, and I know that it aired in the United States on tape delay, I can believe it getting aired on tape delay in the Souivet Union, since they were a different time zone then the United States. In fact, I beat anybody would have laughed at Herb Brooks, if he had told them that his goal was to be the Souivet Union in the Olympics, and even since they have been the best team in the last 20 years, since 1960. Since they won it in 64, 68, 72, and 76. And plus the fact is that our team had younger players, while thier team had older players that have played together longer. And also the fact is that nearly 2 weeks before, they played each other at Madison Square Garden and the United States team lost 10-3. I am sure that nobody, that was either at that game, or even watching it on TV, would have believed they would beat them, even in the Olympics where it would count.

I think that it is the hockey team beating the Soviets but another one has to be Kirk Gibson's walk off home run in the 1988 World Series when he barely got up to the plate without falling down!

I would say the now infamous Bill Buckner ground ball that went under his legs in the 1986 World Series (game 6) against the Mets.
