I'd be pretty heart-broken if I were to stumble upon intimate email shared between my wife and a random internet stranger.... it would not fall under the same category as physically cheating, but both categories would result in pretty much the same outcome.... a divorced mother of two.

Nothing in comparison to cheating. There is a huge difference between writing naughty words and going all the way.

Exchanging intimate e-mail is still a betrayal that can lead to far worse things though. If you partner doesn't show remorse and stop immediately, then you may want to move on. But if they are extremely sorry and cut off all e-mail relations, that means they've learned their lesson.

Most people will tell you yes,it is.I think it all depends on why you're doing this and how far you intend to take it.It also depends on whether or not it's interfering with you're marriage.
If you're treating it as a fantasy and using the results of this with your wife, then I see nothing wrong with it.It's not much different than watching a porn movie, unless you're getting emotionally attached to the other person you're emailing with.

If you're doing that, it will more than likely lead to physical contact and acting out on your emails. If you found the same kind of emails between your partner and someone else, how would YOU feel?

Quit trying to get other strangers to give you "permission" and cut it out.

If something is missing from your relationship, you need to talk to your partner about it first and try to fix it. Imagine how you would feel if your partner was doing the same thing to you?
