Last year I had my dad sneak and get all of our old home videos. I had them put on dvd's for her and she loved it. This year I stole some old pics of the family. I'm getting some of them restored and framed. Then making a calender with some of them at walmart.com . Try something like that.

It has to be personal and detailed- something that you wouldn't just buy off the shelf. Make a short video or slideshow, write a letter, create something unique. The scrapbook idea is a great suggestion.

Have something customized/personalized/engraved. Maybe jewelry that you had engraved with something special. Or you take her out for a mother / daughter spa day. This is what I did with my mom & she loved it :)

make her something.

go thru her photos and construct a scrapbook of you as a child.

i'm getting the feeling she has dough, so an expensive gift is just another "thing"

this would be different.

That frees you to be more esoteric in your choices...she has no discernable need, so you're free to approach her with philosophically relevant gifts such as works of art or things you've personally crafted by hand. In this instance, the personal touch should be greatly appreciated.

Make her something...from the heart...buy a frame and decorate it yourself...and find a cute pic of the two of you from way back when....plus she cant return it haha

honestly i think you should make her something... it shows that you put a lot of thought into it... if thats tacky try cooking? or offer her to clean the house, a spa? vacation?
