If the motherboard has a SATA socket, then Sure, add another HDD as a slave drive, BUT you might need to go into BIOS to change boot sequence so the PATA drive is the bootable drive.

If Motherboard has no Sata slots, buy a Sata PCI card

I guess the question is, what do you want to do with the SATA drive? If you're going to boot off of it and your mobo has SATA ports, then do as the previous poster suggested and reinstall your OS on the SATA drive. If your mobo doesn't support SATA, then another option other than the PCI card would be to buy an external hard drive enclosure with a SATA connection and a USB/IEEE1394/eSATA connector and hook it up that way.
