Indeed, worry about getting into a bachelors program now. Only when you have completed your undergraduate education will you be able to start law school. At that time you will need an exceptionally high score on the LSAT exam. A score in the range of 174-178 will put you in good standing. While in college, achieving a GPA of 3.75 and above will help, although if your major is known for harder grading standards (such as biochemistry or physics) you may gain admission with a lower GPA. At this point, the only thing you can do is gain admittance into a competitive undergraduate school, which may weigh in your favor during the law school application process (but is not a prerequisite). You could also use high SAT/ACT and grades in high school to get a scholarship to college, which would allow you to graduate with little to no student loans and make your life easier when you are saddled with law school loans down the line. I agree with the other posters that so-called "pre-law" programs have little value. In my three years at Harvard Law school I did not meet a single person who had been pre-law.

As you know, HLS is very competitive. Top grades (top 5%) is essential, and at a good college. 95% percentile or higher on the LSAT is also essential. There are still lots of people with those two pedigrees who still don't get in--in a way it's the luck of the draw. Don't limit yourself to Harvard--there are many other law schools that are also very good--the best thing about Harvard frankly is the alumni network.

It probably helps to do undergrad at Harvard. Get a perfect GPA and a perfect LSAT score and you should be fine. It also helps to know George Bush.
