I do not try and follow what people do and do what I think is correct. But, yes it is human nature to look and compare. We even do it when we are not trying to do it.
I always want to be the best I can be, and that is all I can do. When I see someone who has a quality that I really like and enjoy, I admire it. I cannot be them - but I can definitely appreciate them.
I look at people and definitely know what I do not want to be - isn't that a form of comparison? When you see someone who is just generally a "downer" (miserable, unhappy and ready to always look at the negative in life), don't you feel or say - poor person - thank god I am not like that? I do, I don't know if this makes a person good or bad - conformist or not, I just know I am human.
I like this question.

Absolutely not,I am a total non conformist and believe in individuality, that is why I dislike sterotypes so much.Because its boxing people into catagories, and not allowing for their own personal expression. There is a difference between being inspired by someone, and trying to be them, you shouldn't want to be them, rather learn something from them.Be your own person and never feel the need to copy anyone because you should look for your own inspiration. As for comparing,no we should never do that, everyone has different circumstances who are we to judge? We should stop being so hard on ourselves and start seeing ourselves as unique divine souls! ~Tarre

why should I compare myself with someone else?
God created us unique so why I should compare myself with someone else? that is like saying we are not accepting ourselves as God created us.
Maybe I want to be better but I accept myself as I am and I am happy for who I am.
