Hey everyone!

I am engaged and think the marriage and divorce section of YA is really, really sad.

So who here is actually in a HAPPY marriage?

Actually Num, it's not *just* the divorce section....it's the marriage section too....how easily it can be forgotten with all the talk of cheating, abuse and separation though.

We are very happy. That doesn't mean that we don't argue though. At times marriage can be very tough. You just have to be committed to working through your issues. Take your vow's seriously and be sure that God is first in your marriage!

I am. I have known my wife since 10th grade ( we are both 33 now). We have been through some rough patches like anyone else, but we always manage to pull through by listening to each other and trying to come up with solutions for whatever problem we may be facing. The number one thing is to keep communication open and spend time with each other. Don't let the other "stuff" of life come between the two of you. On of the greatest books we have read and used in our marriage is "The Five Love Languages" by Dr. Gary Chapman. It's simple and to the point and works with all kinds of personality types. Hope that helps. See link below.

I am and have been for 15 years. :) My hubby and I have only had 3 disagreements and only 1 real argument. The 3 disagreements was over the kids ( This turned out to be total misunderstandings on both our parts. The kids were trying to break us up. We finally agreed not to make any decisions about what the kids can and can't do til we talk to each other.) and the 1 argument was while we were building our home ourselves in our spare time, this one was caused by pure exhaustion. Good Luck and God Bless

its the lesser of two evils. I was completely unhappy as a single. Really it was a roller coaster with the breakups often the low point and the first sexual step a high and the feelings of Love a super high. Now its all minor aggravations and there is less pain but also less happiness.
So my marriage is happy alot of the time and a pain the rest.

I have a very happy marriage, but from the beginning we have both been committed to putting the other person first in our lives and keeping the lines of communication open.

Happiness being a relative term...I'm happier married than when I wasn't. Far too many others might say that it is an oxymoron or that the two words should not be used in the same sentence, sadly.

Amen!

I am happily married, and have been for over seven years! I adore my wife. She loves me. We support each other, communicate well, and have a LOT of fun and good times together.

All it takes is commitment, hard work, communication, and a basket full of love by both parties.

I am beyond happy in my marriage. I have the best husband in the world and I tell him that every day, and strive to be the best wife.

Nothing is perfect, but I wouldn't trade him for anyone.

I am! We just got married last month though. Hmm.

Seriously, though -- don't waste your energy reading about other people's failed relationships. Like you said, it just makes you sad. Focus on making your marriage work and if you set your sights on each other and your happiness together, it's much easier to succeed.
