1.A (X,Y) is the mid-point of BC. B is the point (x1,y1). Show that C is the point
(2X-x1,2Y-y1)

(i) Using the data below, verify that this is to be the case
x=2 y=6.32
x=3 y=7.24
x=4 y=7.98
x=5 y=8.60
x=6 y=9.12

ii)Estimate the values of a and b , giving your answers to appropriate degree of accuracy.
(iii) Estimate the value of x when y =7.50 giving your answer correct to two significant figures
(iv) If one of the measured values ( x , y ) is (7.00, 9.00); determine the relative error in this
measured value of y , to 3 s.f.

1) C(c1,c2)
X=(x1+c1)/2
Y=(y1+c2)/2

Hence
c1=2X-x1
c2=2Y-y1
