Ok I've been with this girl for almost 2 years were not dating but just living together for the sake of are child. Well about a week ago my sister comes over to pic me up since my vehicle was broke and all hell broke loose. She threatened to get my sister arrested and my sister threatened to call the state on my ex well in other words I know both of them were in the wrong but the ex knew better then to start fighting infront of all my sisters kids.
That brings up what she thinks is right now I live in Maine and theres this state aid called TANF its meant to help families in need with money and so on so forth. Now she can work but she chooses to get TANF because she says getting 20 hours a week is stupid and is a wast of money when she'd be getting about 8.50 or so an hour. She chooses the TANF because she doesn't want to work she wants her money for free. Now tell me honestly is this girl being lazy or is it just me I have a job I work for wal mart I'll give more details as time goes

ok she doesn't want to work because she wants free money from TANF so she doesn't have to work. She'd be getting about 360 a month. She really has never worked before only at a factory that didn't pay that great. She doesn't want to work even when the oppritunity slaps her in the face.

Ok first off rent is free we have section 8. Section 8 looks at how much you make and only makes you pay a certain amount 30% of your income she doesn't pay ANYTHING I've paid to get in and for electric and so on so forth I am tryin to move out but since I just started this job its hard with no money yet. She also went to school for her GED but never got it she left when she could of got it but when they asked her if she did she said no and said she wanted to raise her math scores so its been in limbo for about 8 months and she hasn't lifted the slightest finger in doin anything about it.

Child care can be done by her letting her mom take care of are daughter. The state already told her if she started working then she could have her mom babysit and they would pay her mom a certain amount. To also answer the home question yes she does some stuff but other then that I do a lot to she doesn't want to work even when she'd be gettin about 8.50 n hour which is pretty dam good cause I'm only gettin 9.20.

She is lazy and she is always going to be this way because the goverment is helping her she needs to get up off her *** and get a job and help with her kids she is on tanf she can even get free child care that the state pays for so that she can either go back to school and better herslef or she can go to work and they will still take care of her kids she needs to do something. Because all she is doing is wasting away doing nothing.

sounds real ghetto to me,
Personally If your both living to gether and splitting the rent and bills and things, then she could work
But if she is getting the TANF and your living there for pretty much FREE,
then what can she do,
I will always say its best to stay at home with your child for the first 5 years, and after that she needs to get a job, and find a new man,
This is simply ghetto,
If you want whats best for your family, then why not move out, and let your X move on,
She won't be able to find a new BF while your living there,
and its gotta be difficult , for her considering, your taking advantage of the situation, and then your sister comes over and
Tries to tell her what to do in her own home,
So again my suggestion is for you to move out, and your sister to stay away from the house all together,
and for you to try and get a better paying job so that your X doesn't have to collect the Welfare.

She sounds lazy and unmotivated. This isn't new for her, she did not even have the will to finish the first task in ones life, get a high school diploma. You need to save your money and move out, as it sounds like it's not for the sake of the child but because it's free. How good is she at mothering the child?

If this just a special payment for families in need then yes she is being a lazy ****. There is more to it than that though.
Is the child at home fulltime?
Does she work at home providing a clean home, clean clothes, clean surroundings and a nice healthy meals for you all? If not then that's an issue in itself and i would say yes she is lazy. If she is pulling her weight at home and being as good of a provider in other ways, as you are with money then it is your duty as bread winner to provide enough to live and hers to make sure she spends it wisely. There are so many ifs and buts here.... but i would say if you truly think she is lazy now, then nothing will ever change.

Based on what you are saying, there seems to be multiple issues. The first and most important is your relationship. you say you are living together for your child. What exactly is your child getting out of you two staying together. It is causing more harm than good. Parents are supposed to be good role models for their children. Is that Happening? Learning about getting something for nothing. you have a job. Working for a living. Are they learning about love, working together to get or achieve something?
You have many more important issues to resolve than to find out if your girlfriend is lazy or not.

Sounds lazy, but you don't mention anything about child care. Would she have to pay for that or would it be covered by state aid too? If she has to pay for it out of a salary, she's right, it wouldn't pay to work for mininum wage. But it she gets free or subsidized child care, or if you could watch the kid, then yeah, she's lazy and should work.

Well if the aid is paying more than she would make, I wouldn't want to work either.
However, she could probably find a compromise where she could go to school so that in the future she would make more money.
Definitely not hard working, that's for sure.

Lazy....maybe. Not experienced in work? maybe.
She's put herself in the system which is making her feel secure, even though you can't and never will get ahead on state aid.
The state does take dollar per dollar from any help or work you do. So, maybe she feels, why wrok if I won't see a difference. BUT for her to get out and work, it will give her self confedence and more respect for herself.

She is a pathetic lazy a ss that is taking advantage of us tax payers and our hard earned money. I personally would turn her in if she can work she should have too like the rest of us.
