An awkward social interaction upon seeing someone. Like, you go to hug them, and its obvious they were just gonna shake your hand. Or, you go to shake someone’s hand and they lean in for a kiss on the cheek. Am I the only one this happens to?

Yes, when I was in Mexico I met this chick from Maryland and when we said good-bye we both leaned in to kiss our cheeks and butted heads instead, she wanted to try the kiss again(lucky me)

No , you are not alone ... but this kind of stuff is done with me , people now know that I don't hug and I kiss on the cheek while shaking ... I even created a special handshake for myself that people started using it !

If they expect hugs or kisses from me they don't know me well. I don't even like shaking hands but will do it if pressed.

I was going to give my grandmother a sweet peck on the cheek, and she tried to slip me the tongue. I felt bad because she is old and she said that I was the grandchild who reminded her of grandpa. So I let her get jiggy with it.

I think it probably happens to everyone. You just never know how people are going to greet you unless you know them extremely well. I usually let them make the first move.
