Do you think men act as if rape is a trivial thing?

I can't fathom how men seem to treat the violation of a human-being, as a joke.

What do you guys think?

I'm also referring to the actual perpetrator of the act, not non-offending men.

Yes, and I'm not sure if it's a chemical imbalance, sexual abuse from their past, or if they are just disgusting, filfthy, trashy, pos for a human being.

Yes, there ARE men who think violating a woman physically OR verbally is trivial. That is the reason we have adult men sexually abusing very young babies. They might see a young girl who might be slightly developed for her age and they somehow think this girl is trying to come on to them...because they get aroused from looking at her, so they act on it. It's even more crazy because they do not believe they are at fault.

So you're saying that men look at a woman and think "hmmm if i raped her that would be ok"?

I don't think so! I'm a man and i've never had the "urge" to rape somebody. There is the occassional testosterone ruled male who does that sort of stuff, but to be honest there aren't many. More of a problem is how rapes are dealt with, women aren't usually given the respect from the police they should have if they are raped, basically because any woman could say that a man raped her... on the other hand, a man could rape her and get away with it which is sick. That's the dilemma, but thankfully there is DNA testing which can help track down rapists. Perhaps rape will be a crime of the past in the future!

I was sexually assaulted and although I was not raped, my now husband did not see it as trivial at all. He went into a mode that I hope than I NEVER see again. There is some immature men that think that it is all fun and games. The good men out there, do not see it as trivial at all. My sister was actually raped and she has recovered, but she is not the same and probally will never be. Anybody who thinks that this is just a joke is wrong. I would suggest to any woman that is with a man that think rape is a joke, they should seriously end the relationship. Rape is a violent crime, meant to control and humiliate. It is not a sexual crime at all.

Some men do, some do not. Men that are able to express empathy do. I would think that this would be 95 percent of men. Rapists should not get out of prison, ever. They should not be allotted another chance to violate a human. Rape can ruin a person's life. I hope that nobody jokes about rape, it is horrible and disgusting. Rapists and child molestors are out to seek control (and dominate), thus they need to be in a controlled enviroment= prison.

I think you surround yourself with those tyoes of men, Me and my friends and the men I know look at rape almost if not as bad as murder. I have never met anyone who sees rape as a joke but you might be around a different crown than I am. Yes some do, and its also a shame how some women accuse men falsely, or just make it up and then a man has to spend months, if not years in jail because some woman had the urge to ruin somebody's life

People often joke about nontrivial things - I'm not saying that joking like this is a good thing, just saying it happens.

As for acting as if it was trivial, there are laws against it and people are sent to prison for doing it. This is good evidence that the majority of people (men and women) do not treat it as trivial.

If there is strong enough evidence such as DNA, fingerprints, or best of all photos that links this *sshole to the actually rape, the rapist deserves to have his penis cut off and have it shoved down his throat. Word of mouth don't count either because people have a tendency to lie. There also have to be signs where a struggle to place such as bruises. People has have sex before and the woman cried "Rape" just to get even with her boyfriend.

If a child is involved, the penis should be made grounded into hamburger while it is still attached to him but only if there is strong enough evidence such as DNA, fingerprints, or best of all photos that links this *sshole to the rape. Word of mouth don't count either.

after having to go on trial for it myself i know rather well how serious it is for all parties concerned, in my case it was laughed out of court because it's rather impossible to rape someone without having left some kind of mark on the woman. in real rape cases i am fully aware of how it effects the woman and the scars it leaves behind, just as i'm equally aware of the kind of damage that is done in false rape cases and there's nothing trivial about it
