I am 2 months pregnant and so far, I've seen 4 doctors. They all treated me like crap, saying that I wasn't their probleme, telling me that even with 4 misscarriage I could still weight lift and work out, that a 13 hours patrol is not dangerous for the baby. When I ask question, they say to go on the internet.
I've tried the mid-wife but they are full.
Me and my boyfriend are thinking about not seeing any more doctors and taking care of this ourselves. Is it legal?

We've checked, no doctor in town will take patients.

I;ve seen all 4 doctors on base and they are all not good and the doctors in town wont take new patients. Also, we get posted to a new location every 4 years so I don't know anyone here who had a kid here.

As for the legality of your question, I have no idea. But I have a thought - How about trying a Planned Parenthood in your area or even a clinic off base somewhere? That would be worlds better than NOT seeing any Doctor. And if you can find a free clinic or a community clinic that would give you the connections you might need to find a better doctor who would suit your needs. Good luck with everything!

some places in the USA you can get in trouble. try going further away from where you live to see a doctor. Do what your heart tells you to do when it comes to working out. if your body is use to the working out then it "should" be safe.... just dont over do it. and 13 hours patrol also if your body is use to it then more then likely you will be fine. of course there are hazards with different pregnancies. i have had 4 miscarriages myself but i have 2 living children also and one due in 5 1/2 weeks. still see a doctor its best for the baby you cant tell when something may be wrong. rather then seeing an OB doctor see try seeing a family practice doctor... and not all doctors are nice. sometimes you just have to stick it out. and well if you dont feel comfortable working out or doing patrol then don't.... the doctor can't force you to or not to... they are just seeing what is healthy for the baby. also.. dont stress yourself either because that can cause you to miscarriage... just relax and know your baby is fine... hope things work out for you. i would suggest seeing a doctor tho. its the best thing. plus usually at 2 months pregnant is when you have your first appointment... keep trying hope things work out for you again... your in my thoughts..

It is legal I am sure. Its your body and you child. But if you have had 4 miscarriages I would not go without seeing a doctor. I don't know where you live and why those docotors would treat you like that! I had wonderful docotors. I think that you should ask around and see what docotors have a good report. Or try seeing some more. The baby deserves and needs a doctors attention in my opinion. Some docotors just don't care...they just want $$$$. Others are very caring and supporting. You just have to find the right one. Keep searching and hopefully you have good luck.

Homebirth is safe. Women were designed to birth in privacy, not in an enviroment like a hospital with all these dangerous interventions. Birth is safe Interference with the natural process causes complications to happen. Being a women, being pregant, and giving birth is not a disease, so why is a doctor needed for such a natural function. The US has the second worst maternal and infant mortality rates, and the countries with better mortality rates have more midwives and homebirths.

First, I am so sorry that you are having trouble with these doctor's. You should consider filing a complaint against them. One website that could help point you in the right direction is http://www.mamashealth.com/patient/drcomplaint.asp

Next, if you have health insurance, you can try calling the company's customer service and tell them the problems that you have. They should assign you a case worker that can help you find a doctor in your area that meets your needs.

If you don't have insurance, you can try looking here for some hints.

No matter what, it is not illegal to not see a doctor for your pregnancy. But, it is better for you and your child if you do.

Good Luck.

I don't think it's illegal but it's not very smart. I can definitely understand your frustrations though, I can't believe your doctors are treating you like this! Do you or your boyfriend have a friend or coworker that could recommend somebody? You're obviously going to have some sort of medical professional deliver your baby and it would be of benefit for everybody to have him or her knowledgeable about your body, past complications and progression throughout the pregnancy. Good luck and congrats!

no their are major problems that can happen to you and the baby as well. now go and see a different doctor if one town don't take new patients another town over will read about having babies and different complications that can occur. just in case you have to use the base doctor you can be aware and challenge them on things you don't feel is correct. HAVE A HAPPY AND HEALTHY BABY

i was kinda wondering the same thing. im about 5 months right now and because this month is so busy and im so tight on money, i called the other day to cancel my monthly appointment for december. all they ever do is have me pee in a cup, weigh me, and then check the heart beat. 5 mins and im out the door and i have to drive 2 hours there and 2 hours back just for that so i didnt think it was that big a deal to miss just this month. i understand later down the road is more critical but the receptionist totally threw a fit on me and said i couldnt wait that long. she actually had the nerve to tell me that she was responsible for my pregnancy! im sorry but this is my child and my body and i am the only one ultimately responsible for either of us so if i decide i cant make it to ONE appointment that should be on me, right?

Something doesn't seem right here. First of all why would you even be concerned about if it is legal or not to stop seeing a Dr for your maternity care, this is your baby whom i would think would be your first priority. If Dr.'s are responding as you say, that is not an excuse to just stop seeing them. There are other ways to persue Medical attention, and i would start with planned parenthood for options here. Four Dr's in 2 months? Try to be honest with yourself, is it all the Dr's doing, or are you being over sensative and unrealistic? There are other ways to get medical care that the "baby" needs, i think you have not exausted them all by any means. Hang in there. For your baby's sake.

I suppose you could but that would be rather selfish and inconsiderate of your baby. You need pre-natal care and especially if you have already had 4 miscarriages. You probably need to see a specialist since you are high risk for complications.
If it is indeed true, that they are telling you that it isn't their problem, you need to report them. I do, however, find this hard to believe. I might believe it if one of them was inconsiderate but I don't believe 4 of them were. It sounds to me like you are attempting to be off work or requesting light duty because of pregancy and they aren't giving you what you want. There is no reason to change your daily life because of pregancy, if it is normal before pregnancy it should be normal during pregancy. Use your head with extremes. The only thing my doctor told me to avoid was horse back riding and motorcycles for obvious reasons. You are not sick, you are pregnant.
