If a business is sending out a flier with "holiday" specials, would putting a picture of Santa on the flier be offensive to the Jewish and other religions?
I personally don't believe it would be, as a fat elf-turned human (thanks to Coca-Cola) really isn't a religious symbol in my mind.
My boss would like to put a Santa image on the flier, but then second-guessed himself because we know some of our customers are Jewish.
I personally believe he's trying to take the political-correctness too far. I just want other opinions.

I see no reason why Santa should offend anyone. In fact, I don't see why a picture of Jesus Christ himself should offend anyone. I don't recall hearing of outrage over jewish or muslim holiday icons.

I think he should put the Santa on. I know a Jewish owned store that still has Santa stuff in their store. Maybe because it's good for business ^_^.
I just heard that they took the National Anthem from somewhere in the U.S....a school or something...because of the Somolian community and others not believing in the song or something like that. ( I could be wrong)
I like the National Anthem! It's a U.S. song. I really don't understand that one.

You are correct most people don't think of Saint in the catholic St. Nick way anymore so I think it's pretty netural.
I don't think Jewish people care or mind- I gave everyone I worked with Christmas cards with a painting of the virgin mary and baby jesus on it lined in gold foil. The jewish co-workers thank me for it and thought it was pretty- a few mention it's the first "christmas" card they got!!
As long as it's pleasent to view- I don't think the average person reads that much into it. You'll always have that one person who complains but they will complain about anything.

People are so weird, there is nothing wrong with it, some ppl are getting offended about santa not being politically correct or whatever...what about them?!? What about their rights? Who effin cares if someone is offended, if they are gonna scream and spout over that in comparison to a million other things in the world to get angry about then screw them, seriously, I have not one ounce of compassion for those idiots.
Maybe your boss could send a jewish holiday flyer to the Jewish customers...and santa to the other ones...maybe you could somehow get some of the customers opinions without them knowing its you.
The funny thing about those ppl who say satan=santa and whatnot, those arent the religious ppl, they are the ppl who enjoy pooping in everyones oatmeal by pointing out stupid references and similarities. Like evian water being for naive ppl har har, sorry no, its just the best tasting bottled water out there, my taste buds dont lie.

A Jewish friend of mine sent out a card with Santa on the card. He was tipping his cap and he had a yamaka underneath.
I really don't know anyone who is insulted by it. Look at Big Lots and other stores, they are all using Santa.

You know, I don't celebrate Kwanzaa or Hanukkah , but I don't get offended at the sight of anything to do with those holidays. Instead of political correctness, why don't we practice tolerance of each other's beliefs? Our differences are what keep us unique.

To me, Santa is for kids and which represents presents. I really do not think there is any religious meaning for Santa, it is just a fun and magical for a kid.

Political correctness is a disease that has spread through everyone's mind because of lawyers and the media. They have made it so that nobody can enjoy the holidays anymore.

personally, i would not be offended. but it is nice to see a neutral system, not just one that represents a holiday which you don't celebrate (christmas, if you're jewish or otherwise). though santa himself may not be religious, he is a symbol of a holiday which is very religious. thus, while it's not being offensive, it doesn't really make people who don't celebrate christmas feel included.

Santa is more a cultural figure than a Christian one. Most Jewish people I know (and even Muslims) don't really seem to mind him.
I'd say it's harmless.
