Some versions of this song have the word "Bobtail" capitalized as if it was the horses name, however historians agree that it is just a reference to the type of grooming on the horses tail, and not his proper name.

"Bells on 'Bobtail' ring!" Bobtail is the name of the horse!!!

Dashing through the snow
In a one horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on Bobtail ring (Or Hear our voices ring)
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh and sing (Or What fun it is to ride and sing)
A sleighing song tonight

Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way;
Oh! what fun [joy] it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh. :|

I didn't know there were names for the horses. Are you sure you're not confusing names for horses for names of reindeer in Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer?
