Don't choose based on money. ATC doesn't pay 6 figures anymore with VERY few exceptions. The bottom line is you want to be the best in your profession you can be. I don't know the first thing about CIS, but ANYTHING in aviation, if you don't love it, you'll be flat out horrible (being bad at your job has a negative effect on your salary). I've seen too many wanna be pilots and controllers half bake their way to failing training over and over. They realize the salary reports in aviation are spotty at best, don't count on it being so hard, flop out and finally quit after wasting a few years of their lives and a good chunk of cash.

Personally, I worked in an office, hated it completely despite making nice money for who I was and where I was. Absolutely hated Mondays. No paycheck in the world can make up for the fear of going to bed on Sunday just to wake up to a job you don't enjoy. I've always loved aviation so I'm persuing ATC. So far everything has been more engaging and exciting than my past cubicle life. 99% of the time I love it more than I thought I could. There are times though when I realize at my office job, a bad performance didn't effect me much. A bad performance in ATC makes headlines.

If you are choosing between the two I'd be thinking how fast does my brain work, how much pressure am I OK with and how much excitement do I want out of life. The CIS people I've known are all very bright and have the patience of a saint. Controlers tend to be able to think very quickly and thrive under pressure.

Best of luck in either route.
