As a Giants fan I am afraid to say we do not develope players as well as you think. We only develope pitchers well, and thank god we didnt trade Lincecum or Cain, but can you imagine if we kept Nathan, Liriano and Bonser, instead of shipping them to Minni for Pierzynski (one of the worst trades ever). From what I hear we are pushing to get Miguel Cabrera at the cost of one of our 3 young current starters, Cain Lincecum or Lowry, and it seems Lowry is the favorite to be traded as he has been on the block for about a year now. But only time will tell, our starting pitching will remain strong, even with Zito lol. It is our hitting that needs work and according to McGowan he said he will endure another season or 2 of losing in order to build up again. He says his current focus in the meantime will be pitching and defense. Our starters are strong, relievers are weak, and we have no closer. Our hitting is enemic but hey Arizona's team stats were no better than ours last year and if they can make the playoffs we can sure make some kind of push.
Just keep an eye out on the Cabrera sweepstakes, Giants will be making a strong push as they even pushed to try and get him last year. Also watch for Dontrelle Willis and Scott Kazmir.

All I can say is two words to emphasize the problems with your Giants --- McGowan and Sabean. There is a rumor floating around about an interest in Andruw (Can't Spell His Name Right) Jones --- you know, the "damaged goods with an attitude" CF from Atlanta. Instead of looking to bolster their pitching, they look at a guy like Jones who couldn't even bat his weight last season, has no glove, can hit a few home runs compared to lots of whiffs, and to put the icing on the cake --- he's just bad chemistry for most club houses.
Go figure.

The Giants are a franchise based on winning. They will continue to do what they believe they have to do to field a winning team. It is not as easy as many fans believe it is even if you have the money to spend. I believe you will see a very active management effort to bring in some top players this off season so that they can begin the post Bonds era in San Francisco, be patient.

If McGowan had not let Scott Boras dupe him into a multi year deal with Zito...he would have a whole lot more cash to use to go out and get a Big hitter...It will be very interesting what the attendece will be now that they have NO big bat in the lineup....

I'm tired of the front office. They develop all this talent in the minors, then trade them for some one over the hill. You developed it, then let them develop on the field. Just a few--Torrealba, Nathan, Foulke, Mirabelli.
