For Orchid growers....?

The new growth, a stem about 2 inches, broke off my Phal. If I put it in water will it grow roots so I can replant it? I was so excited to see the new growth, left for vacation, came back, and the stem was broken. Any advice? Thanks!

You can try it but usually when my stems are broken I haven't been successful doing that. I grow epidendum and cymbidium orchids which are different species than yours.
