What makes them real is that the represent 90% of the wifes in Coto De Caza. The women inside that gates are so funny! They live in their own little world of gossip, fake boobs, clothing, shopping and bull crap. All the women drive their over prices over sized SUV's and don't work. They just sit on the phone gossiping about nothing and pretending that they are sooooo busy.
It's a whole retarded lifestyle in there. My mom lives in coto but is ashamed to say so, mainly b/c of the show and the women she lives next to.
None of the women in there have worked in years. They are perfect little dolls for the doctor husbands. They never smell, have a broken nail or un-done hair.
The women on the show represnt coto for what it is.
There was a women on the show the 1st season who recently moved to another state b/c she couldn't "handle the fame". So stupid.

Well some stuff does really happen in places like that.. For instance, staying young forever with stuff like botox. There is alot of pressure in areas like that to stay beautiful. Alot of them can afford to buy their kids new Mercedes and the wives, well they can be housewives. They don't have to go to work and work hard, like alot of the women in this country do everday, because of their husband's jobs. Granted this happens in other parts of our nation, for example in live in New Jersey and there is a neighboorhood called SHort Hills very close to me that is like that. But Orange County is pretty famous. But I do enjoy watching the show. Just because that is the kind of life I want for my family when I grow up, however if my wife wants to work, she can be a indepedant as she wants, unlike some guy I remeber who got pissed just because his wife wanted to work and not stay home all day.

I think it is called that because it is considered a reality show about housewive as opposed the the TV show, Desperate Housewives. I agree with you about the real part!

The word "real" comes from the show Desperate Housewives, but they can't use the shows name, otherwise they would have to pay royalties. That's why they call it the "Real" Housewives of Orange County, hence the fictional characters on Desperate Housewives.

I watched this last night for the first time. I must say I was sucked in. Not by the looks of the people, or the "interesting" conversations, or even by the action.
My intrest in the show took this line....
....What's that idiot going to do next?

They actually probably represent how real rich people act and live. I am facinated by seeing how other people live, or I wouldn't watch it. Then I always wonder how I would act, if I were filthy rich.

Having lived in OC, I have to admit that I didn't care for them then, so I certainly don't watch them on TV now.
I'm sorry, but people that are that self centered, and that egotistical, that vain, and that stupid, simply do not interest me at all.
