Helpful-What to Expect when you are expecting.
Funny-Belly Laughs
I don't think I have one that is "bad" or uniformative.

Everyone told me to buy what to expect when you are expecting but.. I hated it. Any other week by week pregnancy book works but dont go out and buy 5 like I did. They all say the same things. Get a birth book. Someone bought me Dr. Sears The birth book and I like it.

I loved What to Expect When You Are Expecting. I've used it in all 3 of my pregnancies. The What to Expect the 1st Year and also the Toddler Years were great too.

And for a light read get Jenny McCarthy's Belly Laughs. She tells it like it is in a hilarious way.

Good luck.

The pregnancy bible. This book is great I don't know what I'd without it. Its a big colorful book with real pictures and everything you would need to know. They have an answer for everything. It gives you a chapter about each trimester with how your belly grows and what to expect in going to the doctors for that week or month it also has a week to week growth of what your baby looks like each week. EVERYTHING is in this book EVERYTHING.

I use "What to Expect When You're Expecting" as a reference (don't read it all the way through, you will only freak yourself out).

"From the Hips" (by Rebecca Odes and Ceridwen Morris) is an awesome and realistic book about what to expect during pregnancy, written by actual moms and dads. Instead of saying "your baby is 16 inches long and 3 pounds" it says "your baby is about the size of a ferret", which (I think) is easier to visualize. It is also realistic about things you will experience (gas, pains, emotional roller coasters, etc.) and what you can do about it.

I also read "Pregnancy Sucks" which was absolutely hilarious.

What to Expect When Expecting.

That author also has one that's called What to Eat When Expecting. But the first book I mentioned has sections abt. food in it. I would most DEFINITELY recommend the first one. It has it broken down into months and gives you a drawing of what you will look like and baby look like each month. It tells you symptoms you should be feeling. Has questions and answers.

Good luck and congrats!

My most helpful book was Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way. We used the Bradley with all four.

Chicken Soup for the Mother's Soul was great for me

What to Expect is a bit clinical, good for looking up reference material, but not good for calming nerves.
