It is very upsetting, how can people kill an animal that is so delicate and peaceful?

I agree with the first answer. To most people animals = food. That's a simple fact. The Japanese do not have a lot of farm land available to they mainly rely on fish for their nutrition. It's the same with cattle, pigs, sheep etc. All of which are cute and gentle and they still get eaten. It's a fact of life, I'm afraid. :(

Well, for the same reason that we Americans kill innocent and peaceful pigs for food. Because it's food.

I think dolphins are cute, and would much prefer that we have more of them on our planet, but the fact of the matter is that the Japanese have been eating them for centuries.

People also eat bunnies, lambs, calves and turtles...all of these are cute little critters. Sadly, they're made of meat, so people are going to continue eating them for a long time.

Because dolphin meat is nutritious and tastes good, of course. My lover Miyuki is from Japan. Japanese eat whale meat too. Some guy on YA recently said the Japanese who hunt whales should be shot. Shooting is too good for him. Miyuki, her friends and I all wonder why you are more concerned with whales and dolphins than with fellow humans.
