It actually does. Look at it from the manager's perspective: a pregnant woman has a lot of baggage that goes along with her. She's going to be more tired, need more rest, might end up missing days here and there, possibly go on bed rest and the guaranteed maternity leave. After the baby she will have her mind torn in two- honoring her commitments at her job, and being a good mother and wife at home. No mother can give 100% in both areas. Either her family gets neglected or her job does. It's not possible to have both perfectly. People want employees with no strings attached who will give their all to their work.

Unfortunatly, being pregnant is an automatic "time off already" cannidate.
Employers don;t want to hire someone that is going to leave in a couple months, for whatever reason. Your's is just more obvious.
If you can afford to, wait until after the baby. If not - try temp agencies. You don't get long term and if you make a good impression, you have chances for good jobs after baby is born.
Good Luck to you.

As much as the American government tries to insist there is no such thing as discrimination, it is a lie.
I think that when these companies look at you, they do not see how cute or friendly you are, they see 6 weeks maternity leave. I think that you should just wait to get a job, if you can, or maybe get a job from home. Try doing one of those home party jobs, or Avon.
Keep your head up.

Even though it's illegal to discriminate against someone because they are pregnant, you cant really blame an employer. I mean they know you are going to take some time off in the next few months. Keep trying, but dont be suprised if you dont find a job.

It's more difficult because they don't want to hire you knowing that you are going to be leaving soon for maternity. You could try to find a job that is advertised as temporary, they might be more willing to hire you.

I am having the same trouble, but someone suggested to me that I find a temp job for now, and resume looking for something permanent after I have the baby.

The reason your not getting hire is because the employers feel that you are going on maternity leave in a couple of months & they are going to have to train another person in your absents, & to them it's double work.

I'm six months pregnant and have my second interview today, but it sounds like they are going to hire me. They didn't seem to mind at all that I was pregnant.

they really shouldnt fo that. but u do know that they are thinking ur just gonna have to sit out for at least 6 weeks and gonna have to find someone else later anyway.
i would say that u should keep trying to get on. tell them that u really need a job and u need to support ur baby
