I almost didn't ask because I figured I'd get mean &/or ignorant answers (like Bella Reveuse) but I am relieved that some women on here are knowledgeable and compassionate.

Thanks, Bella. Sorry for saying it was mean/ignorant.

Yes, I know a lady who had one when she was 14 and now it breaks her heart because she is completely sterile and desperately would like to have a baby with her husband. It does happen.

Wow, Bella has no clue....doesn't she realize that not all D&C's are by choice? And even when they are....that a woman can want a baby at a later point in life? UGH!

As long as the D&C was uncomplicated, chances are very good that there won't be a problem conceiving. Keep in mind that most healthy fertile couples will take up to a year to conceive, with an average 25% chance of conceiving any given month.

Good luck!!

I had a D&C last May. I see the first person who answered here doesn't know her facts or all the reasons D&C's are performed at what would have been 11 weeks. I had a D&C because I miscarried and even after a couple of weeks my body had done absolutely nothing to expel the fetus.

I started trying to become pregnant again as soon as the doctor said it was okay. So I waited, and fell pregnant again as soon as we started trying.

I have read, that after several D&C's, scar tissue can build up and conception can become a little more difficult. Your doctor would be able to give you the best information about that kind of situation. But if you've only had one...have no worries, many woman have no problems become pregnant again.

Yes some very good friends of ours had this almost exactly. They had theirs at 8 weeks. If not then our kids would have been almost the same age. They did have trouble for about 6 months after that. She felt like giving up. Her cycle did not seem to get back on track.

BUT...

Their little girl is 3 1/2 now and she is too cute!

Just be patient with yourself. It will come.

I had a D&C after I delivered my daughter to get a piece of the torn placenta out. I conceived the 2nd month of trying with my current pregnancy. I was told by my doctor that having multiple D&C's affect your chances because of the scar tissue left, but that a lot of women have one or two and have no problem conceiveing. Good luck.

The first answer has no idea what she is talking about.. And i had a D and C but it wasnt early, it was at 11 weeks and it took us 8 months to get pregnant again afterwards.. I think it just takes some time no matter what the case is.

Why would you have a d&C and try to conceive again? Isnt that defeating the purpose?

****
You should have given more detail. I thought you were saying you just had a d&c and were trying to get pregnant right off that bat. I understand it being YEARS later, but I thought this was something like days later. I apoligize. Wasnt trying to insult anyone.

Its all gravy. I was thinking "this must be some 15 y/o girl who had one and is trying to get prego again because the world hates' her etc.etc. *maybe I just watch too much maury. lol.* Have a nice day.
