If you are confused, you're not alone. While some people talk about pregnancy being 9 months long (divided into three trimesters), most health care providers refer to pregnancy as being 40 weeks long, starting with your last known menstrual period (LMP). Weeks - Months - Calculator - Convertor
A normal pregnancy lasts 280 days from your LMP which is about 266 days from conception to birth. The first two weeks of your pregnancy includes the time of your period, ovulation and fertilization. Conception occurs approximately 14 - 16 days after the first day of your period.
The date of conception is not always known and can vary between women. The date of LMP is known by most women so doctors use this date as a starting point for pregnancy. From your LMP they will add 280 days and this will give your Estimated Due Date or EDD. In general, all doctors agree that pregnancies, when using the LMP dating technique, average approximately 280 days or 40 weeks.

It doesn't mean 2 months but the numbers add up because pregnancy last up to 40 weeks . 81 days is close to 12 weeks. That means you have 3 months left. We count each month as 4 weeks which means pregnancy can last 10 months instead of 9.

Pregnancy put in 9 months:
Month 1: Weeks 1-4
Month 2: Weeks 5-8
Month 3: Weeks 9-13
Month 4: Weeks 14-17
Month 5: Weeks 18-22
Month 6: Weeks 23-27
Month 7: Weeks 28-31
Month 8: Weeks 32-35
Month 9: Weeks 36-40
If you go by calendar months your pregnancy will be 10 months. ( 4 weeks in every month, 40 weeks in a pregnancy, 40/4=10)
Pregnancy put in 10 months:
Month 1: Weeks 1-3
Month 2:Weeks 4-7
Month 3: Weeks 8-11
Month 4: Weeks 12-15
Month 5: Weeks 16-19
Month 6: Weeks 20-23
Month 7: Weeks 24-27
Month 8: Weeks 28-31
Month 9: Weeks 32-35
Month 10: Weeks 36-40
According to a pregnancy based on 9 months you are in the beginning of your 7th month. According to a pregnancy based on 10 months you are in the beginning of your 8th month.
Hope this helps and congratulations and Good luck!!!

Pregnancy is usually measured in weeks instead of months. A woman is typically pregnant for 40 weeks which most people determine to be 10 months(4 weeks a month). In reality every month has more than 28 days so it would be inaccurate to measure it in months. I felt the same way when I first found out that I was pregnant. When someone asks me how far along I am I just say how many weeks I am. Good luck!

Yes 28 weeks is 7 months. You are technically pregnant for 40 weeks which is actually 10 months not 9 months. Congrats.

Full term is 40 weeks. If you go with a 4 week month then you are pregnant for 10 months (not 9). I go by my due date. I am 38 1/2 weeks pregnant currently. I say I'm about 8 1/2 months pregnant. But if you go by the 4 week month then I would be 9 1/2 months pregnant right now. Go by your due date...it's easier.

28 weeks approx = 7 months since a month has 28+ days.
For a 40 weeks pregnancy we are not actually pregnant for first 2 weeks after (LMP). So that makes 38 weeks.
9 months approx = 38 weeks.

there is 9 months in a pregnancy, each month an average of 4.44 weeks. The best way to determine it is to count backwards from your due date. I'm due on March 21st so as of November 21st, i was 5 months prego with 4 to go. Every book is different, and people who say there's 10 months in a pregnancy are wrong. Count backwards. It's much easier!
Congrats!

They count the 40 weeks from the first day of your last period, so your baby is 26 weeks. My son was born at 29 weeks and my doctor said I was 7 months 1 week.

You're counting based on a four-week lunar month (which is how doctors count) that's different than calendar months which vary (30, 31 days etc.)
There are actually 10 lunar months in a pregnancy. So technically you would have 3 more months.
