I do Yahoo the same way you do. Edit for typos, expound (just a bit) when I thought what I wrote down was not clear. But not to the point where the answer practically takes a new twist. Not to a point where another major idea is added, in an effort to compete for BA.

I can count in less than all the fingers in one hand the number of posts I have deleted. I once voluntarily deleted a question because I thought it's better not to mind it than waste energy on users trolling and cheating for points.
I edit to enhance my answer or add details but never to entirely change the point of my answer.

Like you I edit my posts for cosmetic purposes only. If I have to add something, I write everything under the original text (which is unchanged) under the word "ADD". I will never delete my post.

EDIT, yes! - for occasional typos and/or word omissions on the original answer
EDIT, yes! - to add comments and/or more info but I always I make sure that readers know it was an ADDED answer
DELETE, no! - if at all my answers are deleted, it was Yahoo who did it....darn!!!

im with you.
i edit, only because of typos, & i might add more comments when i come back to check & see the questioner have added a comment directed to me. & when i do that, i normally indicate that the following are additional comments.
& yes i havent deleted any of my answers, yet. i just dont see any reason to i suppose.

I deleted one post. But, not because I was wrong, or because I didn't want to stick to my argument...
I deleted my question because people insisted on trying to spin my question into something evil and prejudiced... Despite many many "additional info" lines asking them to not jump to a conclusion.... Their defensiveness about the topic (homosexuality) simply wouldn't let them think about my question in an objective way.

Yes delete mine sometimes, if I find my answers offending, I really don't want to start a debate.
I also edit answers if I have a new information to add.

I never deleted my post. What I do is just add some ideas.
