refer to the triangle in the figure. find an expressioin that represents its perimeter. note: theres a pic of a triangle and it labels 3/4x, 1/x^2, and 5/x^2 on each side...not sure what to do...help!

Perimeter is distance around. For your triangle, this
involves simply adding up the 3 sides
3/4x+1/x^2+5/x^2.
I may have misread your 3/4x side. Is it 3x/4, or 3/4x?
If it's 3 over 4x, then
Perimeter=3/(4x)+1/(x^2)+5/(x^2)
=3/(4x)+6/x^2. Note that you can only add or subtract fractions when they have the same denominators. That's why I can add the 1/x^2 and 5/x^2 terms, but
not the 3/(4x)term.
O.K., we so far have 3/(4x)+6/x^2
These 2 fractions need a common denominator. It
is 4x^2.
3/4x becomes 3x/4x^2, and 6/x^2 becomes 24/4x^2.
Now, I can write the 2 fractions as
3x/4x^2 + 24/4x^2, =(3x+24)/ 4x^2, or 3(x+8)/4x^2.

If the first fraction term is (3/4)x, then the perimeter
is (3/4)x+6/x^2, =3x/4+6/x^2. In this case, the common denominator is 4x^2. 3x/4 becomes 3x^3/4x^2 and 6/x^2 becomes 24/4x^2. this now gives
3x^3/4x^2+24/4x^2, =(3x^3+24)/4x^2, or 3(x^2+8)/4x^2.
This answer is almost (but not quite) the same as the
first one.

In any case, P=3(x+8)/4x^2 if the side is 3/4x, and
3(x^2+8)/4x^2 if the side is (3/4)x, which is 3x/4.

In summary, to find any perimeter, add all the sides
together. If fractions are involved, make sure they all have the same denominator before you add.

Add the sides of a triangle together and BAM you got perimeter.

So, P = (3/4x) + (1/x^2) + (5/x^2)
P = (3/4x) + (6/x^2)

if it is the perimeter, add the sides so:

(3/4x)+(1/x^2)+(5/x^2) gives u the perimeter
