Was I sleeping or something? All of a sudden, grown adults are using this idiotic expression!!
OK…I can understand shortening long phrases so that we can save time, but how exactly does “my bad” shorten our busy lives as opposed to just saying “am I bad”. I did a quickly study, and it saves exactly .22232 of a second. If you want to adjust expressions, how about Merry Christmas becoming “MC”. Saying Merry Christmas takes 2.49 seconds, while “MC takes .32 of a second. Now that makes sense!! The other expression makes no sense. Plus it sounds very moronic.
What started this mass stupidity??

Mass stupidity is the deffinition for a fad. Probably some little kid said it wrong by mistake and everyone though it was cool, and soon it took over the world we know today. I agree, no point what-so-ever, but I doubt someone could ever think up of 'my bad' on there own, and spread it around like some sort of plague.

HAHAHAHAH it does not replace "Am I bad?"
it is a phrase that means: "my fault"
so I suggest adding on to your question with 2 words..yes you must now say that not being well informed was "your bad" LOL
also, "MC" is already taken..."Master of Ceremonies"
I did some real testing and saying "Merry Christmas" takes less than a second to say...not 2.49 as you suggest...well unless you have some speech impediment, which if you do then I apologize for making fun of you...my bad!

You are under the incorrect impression as to how to use the "phrase"..."My bad" is used to say "It was my fault" or "my screw-up" or "it was my bad judgment"....
It is NOT short for "I am bad"....
That said, adults in my generation (I am 48 years old) tend to attempt youthful colloquialisms to try to "fit in"...some of us have a hard time accepting we are no longer the "cool" ones...

my bad doesn't mean am i bad. it means more like sorry. when you mess something up you say it. and so what if people say it. if you don't like it don't say it. and life is solved. calm down, its OK. slang will be used for the rest of human life. start getting used to it.
