All of cheney's health care in the last 6.5 years has cost more then 1 million dollars. And he will get free health care until the day he dies. Is free medical insurance in America only for the rich and elected?

Yes, that's about right. We have socialized medical care for our government employees.

I dont often 'star' a question but this is an exception, because I do find it interesting!
I am very far from being an expert on American medicare, but I am interested!
As far as I understand it no one that needs medical care is turned away because of lack of insurance???
Maybe I am wrong?? Please correct me if this is not the case!
Some one once said "There is no such thing as a free supper"?
Are we in the UK so naive that we really think we have a free National health service?
We dont , it costs us, I am retired now I am not in touch with how much of our salary is deducted to pay for this free service, but whatever I do think that it is overall value for money!
Never the less it is true that the richer you are the better and faster the medical care you can get!
I have tried a few times to work it all out, on this forum how much do we in the UK pay from our wage, how much would it cost in USA for the equivalent cover in insurance?
Impossible task . It appears that the price of medicare insurance differs from state to state, all very strange to me, for example the cover against having your leg bitten off by an alligator in New York is very cheap, the cost of insurance for being knocked over by a Greyhound bus in the Florida everglades is also very cheap??
That of course depends on how much you believe in the answers you get from this forum????
So before wander further off your question, I would say where ever you live the richer you are the better your medicare will be.
Any suggestions on how to improve this situation????

Well my dads not rich, and he has had over 4 million in medical services over the last 4 years paid for by the government.

Between him being retired from the army and being on medicare,

100% of his hospital and medical bills are covered.

I don't understand what people have against the President and VP having medical coverage while in office.

Congress has the same health insurance that every other federal employee has.

What are you gonna say next, that the President and Congress should make minimum wage ?

No, in Canada everyone gets healthcare. I believe in Mexico too, and most Latin American country in America provide free health care if you pay the government plan. USA is an American country, but only for its physical position... there is not so much Americanism in USA.

Freedom, Democracy and Liberty are still on in America, except for Bolivia, United States and Venezuela.

I have done a goggle search on this and have found no source, but for the sake of argument I will concede the number because it is irrelevant. What was the cost of FDR's health Care and who paid for it? The answer is the taxpayers, we also covered the cost of his funeral and JFK's. Because that is how it is for our elected officials. It has nothing to do with the current Health Care debate, it is just a liberal spin on something that the taxpayers have been picking the tab up on since Washington. There doctors and medical staff are mainly military out of Bethesda and Walter Reed, so those cost are most likely inflated but as I said earlier irrelevant.

It's taxpayer paid-for health care provided by the government. Yes, it's the exact "socialized medicine" that the conservatives rail against.

As is typical with the rich and elite right-wingers in their hypocrisy, welfare and socialist handouts are fine with them, as long as the rich or corporations are the recipients, because they "earned" it, unlike the other slobs.

When someone rich like Edwards, Bill Gates or Warren Buffet argue that the wealthy should be chipping on more as their "fair share," the conservatives always say "what's stopping them? Why don't they just pay more voluntarily?" Funny how that doesn't apply when they are on the receiving end of something they supposedly disagree with.

I'm not against government health care, or Cheney receiving benefits. I'm against his work to prevent others from getting what's good enough for him.

Not rich, and get free health care because of my wifes big corrupt corporation. The nerve of them picking up our healthcare costs just because she works for them.

How is it free? How much has he paid into taxes just last year? I have no problem for free healthcare for tax payers. I am just against another welfare handout for people not working.

Did you count the cost of treating that guy he shot in the face?

Of course Cheney is doing a good job of saving money on the healthcare for returning veterans.

I have always thought the citizens of the U.S. deserve the same healthcare as the people that run our country. I don't think we were meant to an elitist country.

What is your source for this. I would like to read it.

It's just life. Some people get free health care. Employees should negotiate this when they are being hired. I have free health care provided by my company and it lasts forever as well. This was something I got when I made it to 'executive' level.
